Online ticket sales are open!! With this lineup, we recommend buying your ticket early!

,
Nathan Tokunaga, clarinet and tenor sax
At 19 years old, our youngest bandleader at Bootleggers Ball. His career and talent keeps growing as he continues his education at The New School in NYC!

Kyle Athayde, trumpet
While based in the SF Bay Area, his band “Kyle Athayde Dance Party” shares their time between NYC and the Bay.

Eddie Barbash, alto sax
With many accolades to list, we especially love that Eddie is a founding member of the house band for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. He was recently seen on the show during its last week on air as a tribute/farewell to the original members!

Charles Chen, piano
He has been a key presence in the SF Bay Area jazz scene for over 15 years. We always love when he’s on keys at Bootleggers!

Mikiya Matsuda, bass
Another staple in our incredible scene and someone we can always rely on for his passion for this music!

Benny Amon, drums
He has toured the world, lived in New Orleans, and we are lucky enough to call him our own local musician. We know it’s going to be a great night when Benny is on drums!

It’s not every day that we have musicians who played with Benny Goodman. 🤩 😮

We’re honored to have Dan Barrett playing with Jessica King and the Sweetest Thing this weekend! (Online tickets for sale until noon on Saturday!!)

From Wikipedia:
The earliest mention of Dan Barrett was in the Melody Maker, 10 February 1973, which reported that he played “Ory’s Creole Trombone” at the end of Kid Ory’s Funeral on 28 January that year. He also played with Teddy Buckner, Andy Blakeney, and Alton Redd, all members of Ory’s band, during the funeral proceedings.

Barrett played valve trombone on the soundtrack to the film, The Cotton Club, in 1984.

In addition to leading a quintet with Howard Alden, Barrett has performed as a sideman with Benny Goodman and Buck Clayton. Barrett is the musical director for Arbors Records in Clearwater, Florida.

🔊 Sound on. 🔉 Joy is a form of resistance, right? 🙏🏻 Jess’s laughter brings us so much joy - whether she’s dancing or leading her band or just chatting with fellow dancers/muscians, her glee is contagious. We look forward to Jessica King & the Sweetest Thing live on our stage Saturday, April 11th at 7:00pm.

Tickets available online until NOON today. And tickets will be available at the door. We can’t wait to dance with you and celebrate the musical mind of Rob Reich 💕🥰

03/08/2026

Rob Reich led his band at Bootleggers Ball at least 8 times over the years. October 19, 2024 was the last. After his sudden and unexpected death in May 2025, the local music and dance scene were “united in shock” as wrote in their piece honoring Rob.

We’re forever grateful for his contribution to Bootleggers and beyond. And we cherish videos like this that show him in his element - playing beautifully, communicating with vocalist Heidi Evelyn who was off camera, and then another queue to Daniel Fabricant on bass who you see make contact with Rob through a simple head nod and smile.

We’ll be celebrating Rob’s music through dance on Saturday, March 14th, with The Rod Reich Swings Left Legacy Band, led by his dear friend Daniel Fabricant.
