Calling all A2 and C1 dancers! We said a while back that one of our fave callers, Romney Tannehill, will be coming to play with us again in the winter! Previously, we have had him in December, but this time it will be January 15-16, 2027, since December is always so overloaded. The other important difference this year is that REGISTRATION MUST BE BY NOVEMBER 1 THROUGH ROMNEY'S WEBSITE, https://www.romneytannehill.com. We can have him only if we have 4 squares, so he needs to know well ahead of time in order to plan. Don't miss your chance for this really fun A2 & C1 weekend!

Look at the nice post our Cathy & Norm earned from ICBDA! Well done, you two!

For those of you that don’t know Norm and Cathy Ritchie, let me introduce them to you. They were this year’s first time coordinators for our ICBDA convention. I could be wrong with this, but I think we had 67 new attendees. I can’t recall a time that I’ve been dancing, that we’ve had that many new attendees. We needed more mentors than we have ever had in the past and the two of them were on top of it sending emails out informing the attendees of exactly what to expect where to go what was happening and when. Mentors were needed all the way up until we met at the first time reception. Some of the mentors ended up having a couple of couples because we had that many people that had attended. I saw some of the emails that Cathy and Norm sent out. I was impressed and proud of our organization for finding a couple that was so passionate about making sure that the first time attendees had a wonderful time and were informed of what to expect. Thank you, Norm and Cathy for all that you did, you really did make a difference.

IN MEMORIAM: The square and round dance world has become a little less bright recently, especially here in St. George, as we have recently lost 2 of our biggest trees. We are so sad that we have lost both Duane Woodmansee on July 7 and Bob Townsend-Manning on July 15.

Duane had a long and distinguished career as a square dance caller, spanning 48 years. He was a regular caller for the Sunshine Dancers for many years and probably taught much of our current St. George square dance community. He was a fun, creative, and patient caller and teacher. If you didn't understand one explanation of a call, he always had about a dozen other ways to describe it to make sure you understood what to do. His long and devoted service to the square dance world earned him the Distinguished Service Award from the Associated Square Dance Clubs of Utah. His obituary reads, "He didn't simply call dances—he built community." We agree.

Bob was a dancer extraordinaire. He and Mary have been our dynamic duo of round dance teaching, cueing, and choreographing for many years. Bob was not only a talented and elegant round dancer, but also a very accomplished C1 square dancer. His go-word for dancing could always have been "excellence." He and Mary have really elevated the round dance scene and have been regularly featured at regional, state, and national dance festivals. But Bob hasn't been just about dancing. He's also been about giving. Whatever kind of help has been needed -- practical, technical, or just to be a friend -- Bob has been there to give it, most often with a side of funny or interesting story. In their tribute, ICBDA (the International Choreographed Ballroom Dance Association) said it perfectly: "His leadership, generosity, and commitment to our organization enriched the lives of countless dancers, and his presence will be deeply missed." Yes. Indeed. We have been most privileged to have Bob as a wonderful friend. Mary will be holding an open house and an email has been sent out. If you did not get this email but would like to attend, please let us know here.

Our hearts and hugs go out to Shauna and Mary as they find their new way forward.
