Chicago movie trivia: The Blues Brothers held a record for the most cars destroyed in a movie. The original film destroyed 104 vehicles, with 60 of them being Chicago police cars. Some of the cars were repaired and then wrecked multiple times. The city of Chicago was replacing their fleet of cars and sold the producers of the movie 60 cars at $400 each. The sequel, Blues Brothers 2000, then broke this record, destroying 105 cars. The original movie still holds the honor for most models wrecked in a single chase sequence, filmed beneath Chicago’s signature “L” tracks.
