Magical Athlete came out late last year and after running out of stock periodically, we finally got our hands on this wacky game. Magical Athlete is a simple racing game where you roll a D6 and move that many spaces, the first and second to cross the finish line get the points. What makes this game shine is the plethora of different racers who all have unique abilities ranging from competitive to game breaking.

Everyone drafts 4 racers in snake draft fashion then races twice on the main board and twice on the advanced side. You use one racer per race and at the end of 4 races, whoever has the most points wins!

Just a reminder that we are only open 10-2 tomorrow and there will be no brunch, only lunch 😌

One quick announcement regarding this Sunday the 19th: we will be open 10am - 2pm and then closed at 2pm to the public for a private event. As such, we will be doing our normal lunch menu instead of brunch for this one day so that the kitchen can prep for the event.

We apologize for this inconvenience but we will have Bardic Brunch back in full swing the following Sunday.

Hot out of the ocean labs of Stonemaier Games : we’ve got Finspan: Sharks and Reefs. This expansion to Finspan adds a board extension that now allows you to build coral reefs and score points in yet another way. There’s also many new fish including sharks with brand new abilities to play around with and alter some base mechanics.

We’re rumbling and tumbling with our game of the month and for July we’ve got Kabuto Sumo: Sakura Slam by Allplay

This isn’t a new game but it is a new game for us and it’s one we’re super excited for! Kabuto Sumo: Sakura Slam is a stand alone expansion to the OG but it’s got new bugs and corners in the ring! Kabuto Sumo acts like one of those old arcade coin pushers where you’re pushing pieces into the ring in hopes of knocking out the opposing wrestlers. Each bug has its own signature pieces and signature abilities to keep things interesting.

This game is very straightforward but also very fun. It plays in 20 minutes and you can play it competitively or on teams. Kabuto Sumo is also very fun as a drinking game, a game to play with kids, you name it!
