This is not easy. This decision has weighed heavily on me for over 100 days. In accepting the uncertainty of my current situation and what is likely a challenging time ahead, I have made the decision not to reopen Main Street Sports Bar. Many already know but I felt an announcement of some kind and a thank you are in order.
I am not able to operate as normal, and find it impossible to welcome customers to a business in which socializing is key but social distancing is the order of the day. It would be a disservice to my future and to my customers to try and make a go of what is inevitability a no win situation.
7 years ago, we, Stephen and I, set out to create a bar that provided the tastiest drinks, the best service, and good times for all ages of people that came through the doors. Along the way we lost each other but now in friendship, we both love the bar and cherish the memories that were made there.. Karaoke, Jelly Bread for my first birthday here, then so many bands and parties! The High Sierra kickoff parties, Fair Parade Days, Halloweens, Sparkles, DJs and of course Taco Tuesday. Birthday parties, bachelor parties, Quincy High School reunions, Bingo, Spooky vaudeville and the Christmas shows and comedians in the Lounge. Just so many memories !
I thank you for your support over the years, for trusting me to create an atmosphere that made you feel comfortable and I am forever indebted to the people who helped me along the way.
I am very grateful, emotionally drained but forever changed by this tiny mountain community that has such a big heart. Thank you so much friends for these 7 years. For allowing me to be part of your lives and your good times, your relationships and even growing families, which for some may have even started with a look, or a smile right here in the bar ❤️
This is obviously not farewell, I’m still around and will be for a while. The dream for my golden years has always been a snowbird lifestyle, so as I work on that and let my mind wander over the last seven years, I realize I have so many great and funny stories to remember and to tell as I sit around a campfire.
With much love and gratitude, Karen
