The Forbidden Shelf The Forbidden Shelf is an independent, community-centered bookstore created by a lifelong reader and advocate for literary and intellectual freedom.

At its core, The Forbidden Shelf exists to connect people to ideas — and to one another — through books. The Forbidden Shelf was founded to shine a light on banned and frequently challenged books in Florida. We are passionate about elevating and celebrating the voices of marginalized communities through their stories and perspectives, and firmly believe in the transformative power of storytelling.

Together, we will build a more inclusive society founded on understanding, empathy, and acceptance, one book at a time.
