Division Street Corral or D Street

Division Street Corral or D Street A famous dance hall that was built by Charles & Adoline Ceciliani and opened in December of 1948. This is a part of Oregon History.

Famous people who performed there include: Johnny Cash, Bobby Vinton, Paul Revere & the Raiders, Hank Thompson, Ray Price, Bobby Vee, Bobby Darin and more. It is no longer operational but people like to see it the way it was. That is why I created this page.

Here are a few fun pics from the days at the dance hall.

I remember playing baseball in the parking lot when we were young. Climbing trees too. Dad and Mom would also pay us a penny for every nail we found and picked up in the parking lot.

It's quite a story and I don't even have all of it. I remember my Mom getting a loan from a couple of guys she thought had mafia ties. I don't know if that was true or not but she feared it. It took years to pay off the loan (to build the hall) but they did it. Mom always kept all the books.

A few other photos of posters Dad and Mom had made for their dances in the mid to late 60's.

This was the only other side door to the hall. It was used to bring in most of the sound equipment for the bands. This photo was also during demo. and the red cedar was already taken off.

This is one of the more sad photos for me. The back door was always where we entered as the family or where we brought friends into the hall. This was taken in March of 2007.

The old drinking fountain. It was, of course, in much better condition during the years there were dances!

Mom, Adoline Ceciliani, coming out of the Ladies' room before they tore down the hall in 2007. Mom did all the bookkeeping and wrote the contracts for all the entertainers who played there. She booked the acts while Dad maintained the hall and they both worked each night it was open. Most nights we did too when we were the right age. No drinking there but we hear there was quite a bit in the parking lot! Babies made there too! Dad was a big strong guy and would pick guys up by the shirt collar and throw them out if they brought in alcohol or started a fight!

This was our family home that everyone drove by just before they went through the gate and paid to go into the parking lot and then the dance hall. Dad expanded it several times since at first when it was just one bedroom in the 1940's.

This was the part of the bar, near the kitchen and right inside the back door to the hall. It would lift up so we could go out onto the dance floor area and the area where people used to sit at small tables and eat. We also called the room between the backdoor and the part that lifts up the Back Room! That is where we stored party hats for New Years Eve and extra things for the kitchen. There was also a make shift bathroom in there too!

This was the checkroom where my sister and I worked many nights checking people's coats and purses. This is during deconstruction so you can see the different numbers and we had tags to go with each box.
