Sappho and Stormy RX are back from an incredible weekend at Shift and have had time to clear the festival dust and leeches from our brains... Or have they🤯? Either way we're moving forward with our next NoFOMO this Friday!

ALSO, as many of you are aware, monkeypox is upon us. While Oregon is not as impacted as other places, cases have been confirmed and more will be coming. This can be unnerving especially while we are still working through covid variants. We must not live in fear, but continue to live our lives. One big way we can protect ourselves and others and reduce infections is by educating ourselves.
I recently contacted Multnomah County Health Department to get current info:
1) Signs and symptoms: rash with blisters to face, arms, legs, eyes, mouth, abdomen or ge****ls / headaches / swollen lymph nodes / fever / body aches / fatigue

2) Transmission: prolonged physical/skin contact - s*x, kissing, cuddling, massage, touching, sharing clothing, linens, towels - we do not yet know if monkeypox can be spread through semen, condoms are not necessarily protective though they can protect against STDs

3) Contagious window for 2-4 weeks - important to isolate during that time /until last scab has fallen off from blister like rash

4) If you have any concerns that you may have monkey pox, isolate, keep rash covered, wear a mask and schedule an appointment with your doctor ASAP for testing

5) We know that calls from public health officials can feel invasive but if and when able we encourage folks to be receptive to contact from them as they are currently coordinating vaccination efforts which at this time are limited to known contacts.

NoFOMO is an inclusive monthly event produced by a q***r collective dedicated to Portland's homegrown cosmic dance music sounds. Resident DJs Sappho, Stormy Roxx, and the Prey plus special guests.

◎ Sappho https://soundcloud.com/sappho-presents-chingo (PDX, Bottom Forty) Sappho is a music selector and soul reflector. Forever searching for music to contribute to the soundtrack of the cosmic travels of nightlife, she relentlessly researches, expands on a narrative and exposes the listener to music they may have never heard but love. Residencies include NoFOMO in Portland, OR and Bottom Forty in Seattle, WA plus she hosts Misplaced Keys, a biweekly radio show on www.boxfrequency.fm.

◎ StormyRoxx https://soundcloud.com/stormyroxx (PDX) As a deep lover of dancing, it felt very natural and effortless to dedicate his life towards event production and djing. Unlike many DJs, that arose out the warehouse raves of the past decades or the massive commercial EDM market, Stormy emerged from and was influenced by the rock, punk, goth, industrial and cabaret art scenes. Obsessed with music and the allure of what mysteries the "big" city held, Stormy relocated to Portland in ’91. Continually exploring new scenes and music styles, he eventually found himself drawn to DJing in ’93. In 2004 after his first experience at Burning Man his mind was blown wide open. The experience would change the way he felt and heard the music and was greatly inspired to go further... and further still. Over time his sound would flower to encompass exquisite percussive textures, emotive tones, psychedelia, s*xuality and drama that engage the mind and body on the dance floor. Layers of sound and melody that trigger your cognitive experience then poured over a throbbing hypnotic beat that channels your primal regions. His musical interests run the gamut and his style morphs as his interests and inspirations evolve. Now over two decades on this adventure, Stormy’s distinct style, presence and musical mastery have established him as a performer of a variety of successful events throughout the NW. Always dancing while he DJ’s, Stormy extends his invitation to come join him in the dance.

The Prey specializes in ethereal house, organic minimal, and astral dub.

By evoking vulnerable animals that form protective groups to defend against predators, his moniker serves as a metaphor for how embracing community generates collective strength and resilience.

Based in Portland, OR, he is a resident DJ at NoFOMO, an inclusive party with a sound frequently described as “cosmic,” and at Circuit Breaker, a party that celebrates the expression of q***r s*xuality.

In addition to his focus on the deeper side of contemporary dance music, the Prey indulges his affection for 90s house with marathon all-vinyl sets at biannual event the Gay Nineties.

The Prey’s music has been signed to labels including 2MR, Death by Rainbow, Leonizer Records, and Bottom Forty. His DJ mixes have been featured on Deep South, Acid Camp, ultrawizardsword, and Jacktone Radio, among others. And he’s shared bills with the likes of Octo Octa, Massimiliano Pagliara, Prosumer, and Kris Wadsworth.

The Prey is inspired by the utopian vision of nightlife (conceived at the intersection of q***r and BIPOC communities) that galvanized the disco era. The music and nightclubs created by and for these oppressed communities continue to serve as beacons of spiritual refuge and political empowerment. As a gay man participating in this tradition, the Prey hopes to create musical experiences that manifest that utopian ideal.
