Heartbreak Club is going on a break for a couple months. Producing shows is expensive and we gotta save a little money up before we can kick it off again! Maybe if people want we’ll make some shirts or hats to help fund it? Let us know what you think!

Thank you to everyone who came out to party with us tonight! It was a fantastic prelude to an amazing Pride!

When Heartbreak Club was created 3 years ago in 2021 (holy s**t), it was a project that I (Bearfist) took on with DJ DeepCuts and DJ BawdyHeat. From the start, we knew we wanted to highlight q***r artists as much as possible. In our sets, in each others sets, and in whatever events would come when COVID restrictions lifted. When we became a live show, we decided to incorporate drag performances just because our friends were there from the drag community, and it sounded fun. Since then we have had two amazing hosts, Anne J. Tifah and Sue From Corporate, and have had so many phenomenal drag performers join us for a recurring alternative drag show here in Portland.

We’re thankful this pride season for our q***r friends who’ve lived in the punk/emo/hardcore world, you’ve all done amazing making this far and breaking the walls we’ve had to break. Here, today, we create space intentionally in our scene. And we’re thankful to everyone who has passed through our doors to support q***r art.

The spirit of DIY and a scene built on uplifting each other are what make the emo world special, as far back as Rites of Spring and Embrace. Today there’s a beautiful scene full of new sounds and perspectives that should be celebrated and appreciated. This is why we run our own events and skip out on corporate owned nostalgia cash grabs. The commodification of a neatly packaged “80’s night for Millenials” spits in the face of a scene that never died, it just went back to basements and house shows, and now bedrooms across the world.
