To party...ooooooor NOT to party? Crappy question.
Why and HOW to party is far more at the nut of it.
To party like a pro is to decompress?...ok. Doing it right is to master influence by creating tailored opportunities for a family or team to interact outside the regular format of group function. Getting out of the house or back into it. Getting out of the office or clubhouse. Brief changes of venue and the creative, appropriate relaxation of normally useful boundaries offers a windfall of future efficiency. Groups, like the individuals that compose them, require motivation, focus, discipline and mission for sure but equally recuperation, pattern interruption, healing and the clarity of resolve that comes from these intermittent experiences. Work is a pressure cooker.
The social life of any family or company is structured effectively by various, predictable opportunities to celebrate with an event from time to time. Those events of entertainment are tools like power, money or a gun. They can be used or abused. I am good at directly increasing the percentile likelihood of the former, and eliminating the later.
My work of 30 years is done to leverage human social nature, create unity and cohesion where there may have been rifts afoot. Use a party to create chances and opportunities that pop up more easily outside of the conditioned expectations of the workplace or even the home. Conflicts that seem bound to arise and fester in the regular, expected setting can often be relieved and clarified by a chance to relax, speak, and listen almost AS a different you. Employees, bosses, parents, kids, teammates can be addressed more effectively with existing issues. Forgiveness, or permissions can be granted. New boundaries can be set.
These chosen gatherings are tools in a masterful leader's toolbox used to create next-level group effectiveness and tenacity over time and foster the necessary interdependence, communication and sense of mission that mere membership in a family or on a team can offer.
