Why “strong” and “full-bodied” are not the same thing

These terms are often used interchangeably, but they describe different characteristics.

Strength generally refers to ni****ne intensity—how physically powerful the cigar feels.

Body describes the weight, richness and fullness of the smoke and flavor.

A cigar can therefore be:

* Mild in strength but rich in flavor
* Strong in ni****ne but relatively straightforward in flavor
* Medium strength and full-bodied
* Both strong and full-bodied

That distinction becomes especially useful when recommending ci**rs.

Someone asking for “lots of flavor without getting knocked over” may want a medium-strength, fuller-bodied blend rather than a genuinely strong cigar.

Wrapper color alone doesn’t answer the question either. A dark cigar is not automatically stronger than a light one.

The best cigar recommendation begins by asking what “strong” means to the person requesting it.

There’s always that one guy at the wedding reception.

The vows have been exchanged.
The pictures are finished.
Dinner’s been served.
