Construction Update!

The helical piers are going in! These deep foundation supports help transfer the building’s weight into stronger soil below, giving the structure the stability it needs for the next phase of restoration.

Fun Fact Friday!

Did you know this is the original bank teller window from when Farmers Merchants Bank was still an actual working bank?

Pretty cool to see a piece of the original bank still here today!

Today’s Construction Update!

We wanted to give a closer look of the temporary wall.

This barrier helps seal and protect the inside of the building from the elements while the original bricks are cleaned and we prepare for the rebuild.

Some of the best history comes from the people who lived it.

Bobbie Jezek took us back to when she was just five or six years old, remembering a visit to the dentist’s office that once operated upstairs in this historic building.

Stories like Bobbie’s reminds us that we’re preserving a place filled with generations of memories.

Do you remember visiting this building? We’d love to hear your story. 👇

FMB Finds: A Brick With a Story

While carefully removing the historic brick from the bank, our team uncovered this brick stamped “FERRIS.” It was made by the Ferris Brick Company in Ferris, Texas — once known as the “Brick Capital of the Nation.”

Since the bank was originally built in 1896 and the Ferris Brick Company was formed in 1923, this little brick gives us a fascinating clue about a later repair or alteration to the building.
