September 14 1984 David Bowie’s China girl starring Bowie and actress Geeling Ng won an MTV video award for Best Male Video.

Bowie at the time said the video was a "very simple, very direct" statement against racism.

This day in 1972 David Bowie released "John, I'm only Dancing" in the U.K. The song was not released in the U.S. until 1976 as RCA refused to release it in America due to its suggestive lyrical content. Video at link in bio.
