A week ago, we thought we were saying goodbye. Today, we’re celebrating.

We’re thrilled to share that the Big Deck has officially been approved to remain for another year, and this simply would not have happened without you.

Hundreds of you wrote letters, sent emails, shared our story, spoke up, and reminded everyone just how much this place means to our community. Your voices mattered, and they made a difference.

On behalf of everyone at Little Bar, thank you for standing with us.

The Big Deck has always been more than just extra seating. It’s become part of Little Bar’s identity — a place where friends gather, birthdays are celebrated, sunsets are shared, and the Palm Desert community comes together.

Now let’s get back to what the Big Deck does best:

Cold drinks.
Great friends.
Beautiful sunsets.
And making new memories.

Well, friends...

This is the email we hoped we wouldn't have to write.

First, thank you.

The support for the Big Deck has been incredible. Hundreds of you wrote letters, sent emails, shared memories, and spoke up on our behalf. We were truly overwhelmed by the response.

The good news is that the Palm Desert City Council voted 4-1 to continue allowing outdoor dining decks.

The bad news is that the City has one requirement that we cannot satisfy.

Despite Little Bar offering to indemnify the City, carry insurance, pay for the parking spaces, and assume responsibility for the deck, the city made demands that no reasonable business person would agree to including requiring the landlord to assume financially responsibility for City owned parking spaces and a deck he doesn't operate. This requirement leaves us with no path forward.

As a result, after six years, the Big Deck will come down on Monday, June 29.

We believed there was a reasonable path forward.

Apparently, we were wrong.

One councilmember even suggested that perhaps we should relocate and become "Medium Bar."

We'll pass.

Little Bar belongs exactly where it is.

So we're going to spend this final week doing what we've always done: serving drinks, watching sunsets, and enjoying the community that made the Big Deck special in the first place.

Because we're closed on Sundays during the summer, Saturday, June 27 will be your last chance to enjoy the Big Deck before it's removed.

Come raise a glass, watch one more sunset, and help us send it off properly.

And to everyone who fought for it: thank you.

You proved something we've known for a long time.

The Big Deck was never just a deck.
