Pulse Families and Survivors for Justice

Pulse Families and Survivors for Justice Founded by a victim's mother, survivor, & community members. We are now the largest organized group of PULSE families/survivors for accountability & justice.

We publish documented facts and public records. We are a group of Pulse survivors, victims' family members, and impacted community members fighting against the OnePULSE Foundation's attempt to turn our tragedy into a money-making attraction (aka, a museum). We do not think anyone should make money off a mass shooting, especially Pulse co-owner Barbara Poma who is named in a lawsuit brought by shoo

ting victims for security negligence and premise liability. She does not represent victims and is not keeper of the story. She was not even in the United States when the shooting happened. We demand justice and accountability for the documented code violations and unpermitted renovations at Pulse Nightclub that hindered escape and rescue. Law enforcement never conducted a criminal investigation and the City of Orlando called off an inspection of the nightclub after the shooting to fully document known code violations. We want a public memorial park, with no gift shop on site (as the OnePULSE Foundation put up a gift shop feet away from where our loved ones were brutally murdered). Public tragedies should not be privatized. Check out our YouTube channel, Twitter , Instagram , and read the records for yourself.

Like we always said.... the Police Foundation report was never an investigation conducted by the DOJ. This PULSE "after-action review" has been inaccurately characterized by government officials for the past decade. Now, we have it straight from the horses' mouth. This is what we have been saying all along.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer needs to stop lying to the public and making false claims that this was an investigation. It was not and has no legal merit. He's a lawyer. He knows this. But he does it anyway to cover his own leadership failures.

The Police Foundation was renamed to the National Police Institute in 2022.

We are still seeking police body camera footage that has been inappropriately redacted and withheld from the public by the City of Orlando - Government. The City now claims all requests for video will take at least 12 months to fulfill.

The City of Orlando - Government really doesn't want records to get out. They will not only nickel and dime you every step of the way, but they will also take a full year to fulfill the request. Why does a request for 10 seconds of video footage require "extensive use of information technology resources"?

This is purposeful leadership failure.

This is the kind of shamelessness that results from the lack of accountability.

The fight is not over.

The City’s refusal to provide public transparency has led to a new legal fight for PULSE records.

You might wonder what this has to do with PULSE.

Google Craig Mateer—the employer of Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer's son, Trey.

This is an example of welcomed State intervention so the Mayor's friends do not destroy the City's history for profit. Let's see what the Mayor and his selected Commissioners are going to do about this.

Mateer owns numerous properties on Church Street and his prior attempt to destroy the historic train station was only stopped by the Historic Preservation Board. He is the brother of city attorney Jody Litchford. He was asked by City Attorney Mayanne Downs to purchase the properties adjacent to Pulse Orlando—injecting $1M into the onePULSE Foundation, bailing them out of debt, and preventing an audit of the nonprofit—which was being led by her GrayRobinson employee and the Mayor's friend Earl Crittenden.

This is what corruption looks like. It's the definition of it. Sheehan was part of this, as well as the coverup of the unpermitted renovations and code violations at PULSE that she claims the City knew nothing about—despite being the City of Orlando - Government herself and staying silent outside of private conversations.

Commissioner Patty Sheehan Tony Ortiz District 2 Commissioner

The photos taken by the Office of the State Attorney, Monique Worrell prior to PULSE's demolition show additional unpermitted renovations (illegally wallled over windows and doors) that prior photographs taken by the City of Orlando - Government FAILED to document.

They also show the LACK of emergency hardware on designated EXITS, which were not real exits at all as they led out to enclosed areas.

Does any of this look like it was done to code? It wasn't and that's obvious to the average person. No code enforcement background needed.

Survivors were never interviewed about these issues.
No independent investigation was ever conducted.

For years, Kate Maini and others in the Poma/PULSE employee group harassed us, lied about us, and publicly demeaned us as they defended their employers—Barbara and Rosario Poma—the former co-owners of PULSE.

Now, people in our community are seeing how these folks put loyalty over morality. These are disturbing posts circulating online, and appear to show that Maini recently supported a local child sexual predator. This is years after she supported a negligent bar owner who is responsible for the unpermitted renovations and code violations that hindered escape and rescue, as well as security negligence. This is thoroughly documented in the public records, which we have posted for years.

As a reminder, Kowalczyk entered the plea of Count Two of the Superseding Indictment. The count is punishable by a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of ten years up to life imprisonment, a maximum fine of $250,000, a term of supervised release of at least five years up to life and a special assessment of $100 per felony count.

Again, these are posts circulating on Facebook. We are sharing them here because the community needs to understand the depravity of those in the PULSE/Poma orbit, which includes Mayor Buddy Dyer and Commissioner Patty Sheehan.

This is disturbing stuff. Maini is now a local realtor.
