Kims family reached out to me today and asked me to make a public post regarding her church sponsored fundraiser on Saturday.. Due to some unfortunate circumstances out of their control, this event is postponed until further notice. I will update as soon as we have more details with rescheduling a date and location... Thank you again from the family for all of the love and support they have been receiving.... they are beyond grateful for each and everyone who has prayed, donated and showed support.

💗 OUR COMMUNITY CONTINUES TO SHOW UP FOR KIM AND HER FAMILY! 💗

I want to take a moment to say a HUGE thank-you to Angela Reynolds and the Senior Class for coming together to provide meals from local area restaurants every Thursday for the rest of October! What a wonderful way to show love and support for Kim and her family.

A special thank-you to Jen S. for stepping up to cover several meals as well. Every single meal, every thoughtful gesture, and every person who has offered to help means more than you know.

Kim’s family is a family of eight, and with everything they are going through right now, having a meal taken care of is one less thing they have to worry about. These acts of kindness may seem simple, but they make a real difference in a family’s day.

There is another part of this that people may not think about. When Kim and her parents are away for treatments, Kim’s 3 younger siblings are at home being cared for by their older adult sister. Like many kids, they can end up grabbing snacks instead of sitting down to a proper meal. As a mom, Kim’s mom naturally worries about whether the younger kids are eating well while she is away. Knowing a good meal is taken care of for the kids at home is one less worry for her to carry while she focuses on Kim. That's what this meal train is really about: caring for the whole family.

And this is just hopefully the beginning. 💗 Kim’s treatments will continue into November and December, so we will be continuing the meal train during those months, too. We know this is a long road for Kim and her family, especially with the holidays approaching. We want them to know they don't have to face it without support. There will be more opportunities for anyone who would like to help in the coming months.

To everyone who has reached out, donated, offered a meal, said a prayer, shared Kim's story, or asked how you can help — thank you. This is what community is all about: coming together when a family needs us most.

We still have open dates on the October meal train for anyone who would like to help. Homemade meals or meals from a local restaurant are welcome. Just text me at 217-412-0886 with your name, the date you’d like to take, and what you plan to provide.

❤️ SUNDAY THANK YOU FROM AFTER ❤️
As another week comes to an end, I just want to take a minute to say thank you.
Thank you to everyone who has shared an idea, an opinion, a suggestion, or even a criticism with us from our posts this week. I truly appreciate all of it. We may not always agree on everything, but I believe having people who care enough to speak up is a good thing. It helps us grow.
When we created AFTER, it was all about kids and community. That hasn't changed.
Is it about making money? No. Of course, making enough through adult nights, parties and special events to cover our rent, utilities and other expenses would be amazing. 😂 But at the heart of it, this place was created because we wanted somewhere for people to come together, have fun, feel welcome and hopefully do some good along the way.
And this week, our community did exactly that. ❤️
A huge THANK YOU to Dusty Chapa and her family for making a fabulous pulled pork dinner for Kim and her family, complete with all the trimmings and homemade cookies! It was such a thoughtful thing to do, and I know it meant so much to them.
And Thank you to Tony and the staff at Oregon Alfano's who also donated two XL pizzas. After being away for a week, having a hot meal waiting for Kim and her parents to come home to — and being able to sit down and eat together as a family again — was such a nice treat. ❤️
And thank you to everyone who has donated money to help Kim and her family. Every single dollar helps with the expenses they are facing right now, and we are incredibly grateful.
We are still accepting donations for Kim and her family, and we will continue to make sure they know just how much love and support this community is sending their way.
And now... onto something completely different. 😂🎃
THE HAUNTED HOUSE!
I may have gone a little overboard with some of the bigger things I've gotten for this thing... LOL. But I am SO excited about it!!
We are still looking for volunteers and donations for our Haunted House on Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31.
We are especially looking for:
🕸️ Old sheets
🕸️ Old curtains
🕯️ Flameless candles
🕸️ And anyone willing to help decorate, scare people, extra ideas or just jump in wherever needed!
We will be decorating every day after school during the week leading up to Halloween, so if you have some time and want to come help, we'd love to have you.
Message me if you'd like to volunteer and I'll get you the times.
And I'm thinking... after everything is done, maybe we need to have a pizza party on Sunday for everyone who helped make this happen. 🍕❤️
Because that's what AFTER is supposed to be.
People helping people. Kids having fun. Families coming together. And a community that shows up for each other.

you all want more pictures... so here we go! this is what you get when 8 teenagers ask you to turn off the lights ( with everyones consent) to (get this) play hide and seek. When was the last time you kids wanted to do that?!?!?!

Reminder, tomorrow is Homeschool/Oregon mingle day! 10am til 2pm. everyone is welcome. kids under 12 must have an adult with them .... we're not a daycare lol. This is one of my favorite days that doesn't happen too often!
