Happy Friday my friends.
Before I get started on today's post, I'd like to address a "situation." Sometimes our posts get a little long. I take this for granted, as I foolishly believed in the "No Child Left Behind" act of 2001, signed into federal law by President George W. Bush. Yesterday my dear friend Neil (you might remember him as one of the visiting chefs for our last fundraiser) bravely admitted.........he was the ONE child left behind😢 He has some issues with the bigger words in the daily post and sometimes it takes him a VERY long time to get to the end. He wanted me to "just post a picture and a price."
I thought long and hard about this and "IF" we changed our posts, then our friend will NEVER catch up, and I cannot bring myself to abandon the little fella. One thing Onalaska is great at is coming together in times of need. I am hoping that we can all take the time to work with Neil "on his words." Help him sound out the bigger words and together we can make sure that he no longer feels "left behind"🤣 "Don't worry little buddy, we've got your back!"😂😎😂
Now, with an injustice addressed we can take on the weekend! We have a HUGE day dialed up. It of course starts with our Early Bird Specials and "the Best Deal in Lunch!" Featuring 3 great options for just $5.75 each from open-3pm daily.
For our regular special, we are going BIG with Steak and Shrimp!!! It has been a VERY long time since we did a Surf and Turf, but it is back to kick off the weekend! We start with a beautiful hand cut and well-trimmed 10oz New York Strip, seasoned and grilled to order. Your steak is paired with a bamboo skewer of 6 grilled shrimp. Your meal is completed with a fluffy oven baked loaded potato, seasoned vegetable and garlic bread for just $22.

FAQ's
Q; When will you start serving the dinner special?
A; It should be ready to go at 2pm.

Q; Can this be ordered "to go?"
A; Yes, but we will NOT be taking any phone orders. You will have to come on in to order.

Q; Can I reserve_____ number for _____ time?
A; Negative (Neil, that is a fancy word for NO😉), these are done on a first come, first served basis

Q; How long will it take to get my order?
A; How many jellybeans can fit in the cargo bay of an Aircraft Carrier??? I truly have no idea, if there is NO other orders it takes about 10 minutes to complete a ticket. If there are big parties, lots of orders, etc, it can be much longer. Remember, "we do great food as fast as we can. Fast food is 11 miles WEST😇"

Q; Can I get my steak cooked like jerky?
A; You bet, I'll grill this thing till it could be served in an urn.

Q; What if you run out?
A; Not an issue, we are 100% going to run out. The better question is "WHEN" will you run out? I would be SHOCKED if they are still available (on the board) at 730.

Q; How many specials do you have?
A; We have 34 prepped and ready. I cut 35 steaks, but I did make one for Dee after work last night as I expect she will NOT get one tonight.

Q; Did I hear something in the kitchen?
A Probably, Aaron is quite possibly suffering from Tourette's, just ignore him😂

Q; What was yesterday's hint, bistecca e gamberi?
A; Bistecca e gamberi is Italian for steak and shrimp.

Q; Do you have a hint about tomorrows special?
A; Yes I do. The hint for tomorrow's special is "Yabba Dabba Doo!"

Thirsty Thursday is here and we have 4 days left to take an already epic May and turn it into a LEGEND!!!! This month has been EXCEPTIONALLY good already, but after last week's unbelievable numbers, this "could" end up being our busiest month of the year (so far). This "bucks" historical trends, as we tend to be significantly busier in the Fall/Winter months. The long nights, gloomy days and really not much to do is sort of a "no brainer" for the occasional, treat yourself to a night out and a good meal.
This could easily be a one off, but it is something we will continue to track. That said, I am a bit of a gluten for breaking records, and we dialed up a MASSIVE week to finish off the month.
Much of a successful week, starts on the closed days. Yesterday I ground up 120 POUNDS of fresh Chuck Burger. Since we made the switch to ground in house chuck burger, it has been "difficult" to figure out how much to prep for the week, but I am hoping 120 pounds is the magic number. Add in calling on 10 suppliers in 2 states between Fife and Portland and I "think" we are restocked and ready to take on the week!
We are kicking things off with our Early Bird Special(s) and "the Best Deal in LUNCH." Our early bird menu is available daily from open-3pm and all options are just $5.75. Sadly, our "limited time" offering of chicken nuggets is no longer available. "IF" I can find them again in the future, I'll bring them back as a limited option.
For our regular special we are bringing back the Cuban Sandwich, aka "the Cubano." Arguably the most popular sandwich in Florida where it is regarded as a symbol of local culture.
The star of any Cubano is the Mojo Pork. "This isn't Bubba's pulled pork." Our pork shoulders are marinated overnight in a blend of fresh squeezed citrus (oranges and limes), garlic and spices before slow roasting in the marinade to fall off the bone tender. "On a side note, if you have EVER squeezed a liter of orange and lime juice, you have to wonder how a gallon of juice isn't $1000????" Holy crap, that was a lot of squeezing😆
This crispy hot sandwich starts with the bread. You need a soft interior bread that has a flaky crust. For this we used Mexican Telera. Our bread is split lengthwise and gets our mustard-based spread (yellow mustard, mayo and smoked paprika) on both halves. Then we layer on Swiss Cheese, thin sliced pit ham, a generous layer of Mojo Pork, slices of Dill Pickle and topped with more cheese. Once your Sandwich is assembled, it is time for the magic. Each Cubano is then placed on the grill and pressed flat to give it a beautiful crispy exterior. If this seems like a LOT of work for a sandwich.......you are right, but this is a truly exceptional sandwich. Your Cubano is served with fries for just $14!

Here is a little hint for tomorrow's special, "bistecca e gamberi."😂

Happy Wednesday (night) my friends. I was hoping to get home early (after a very long day of shopping) and just put a fun post/movie review of the new Star Wars movie, the Mandalorian and Grogu.
Sadly, I do have to deal with one (hopefully minor) issue.
The tables in the beer garden are NOT to be moved. I am not at all sure when it was that folks became so, (let's call it confident) that they felt "entitled" to take over an area. The two tables that have umbrellas are secured to their spots. Moving them causes DAMAGE, and that causes Dee "to get angry, and we don't like when Dee's angry." (In fairness that is just a little joke and an Incredible Hulk "semi" quote), but it does cause damage to the umbrellas/sunshades. "IF" it continues, we will just remove them all together.
Now for my thoughts on Star Wars newest movie, the Mandalorian and Grogu. We have become so "politicized and tribal" anymore that it is damned near impossible to find something that doesn't anger "somebody." I read reviews online that it was "to woke." I also read reviews that Disney didn't go "woke enough." I assume they were written by MORONS.
This is a wonderful film and quite possibly the BEST Star Wars movie to be released in the Disney era. It had action (from the start). The story wasn't confined by the original 3 films or the 3 prequels. Despite being (relatively) free to "explore" that beloved "far far away galaxy," the Mandalorian and Grogu showed respect to the franchise, without pushing in any particular political direction. Something that has become EXTREMELY difficult in recent years.
Dee and I had a truly wonderful time watching this film. We come at it from two extremely different perspectives. I have been a fan of Star Wars since I watched the original movie at the Chehalis Drive in 1977 (yes, we use to have a drive in, look it up🤣). Dee comes to Star Wars as more of an, "I'll tolerate Aaron's childish obsession." She watched "a New Hope" with me around 2003. Despite our different "feelings" about the movies/franchise we both had an absolutely amazing time.
I HIGHLY recommend going to see this on the "big screen." In my humble opinion, this is the BEST feature film Disney has put out for this franchise.
Also, I wouldn't bother with 3D unless you are going to an Imax theater. It wasn't filmed in 3D and many of the scenes are dark(er) and that won't lend well to 3D.

Well rested (sort of😴) and ready to take on another brutal week (not even close😜), it is time to venture into the concrete jungles and hunt down deals.
Thankfully after last week and the EXTREMELY busy week we had, I can skip the list, we just need EVERYTHING😂
"Shopping list, we don't need no stinking list!"😎

What a week! Thank you to EVERYONE that came down and spent a little time with us. I can honestly say that we could NOT open today, even if we wanted to. When the dust settled yesterday, we were out of BURGER, small buns, fries, chicken and lettuce. We have "almost" enough beer to handle a bachelor party for a dude with no friends that is mean to dogs. Basically, "IF" we were going out of business, this would have been the PERFECT way to walk off into the sunset😎
Sadly, there is no "sunset" in our immediate plans, so we will grab a little rest, relax around the house for a day and get right back after it on Tuesday as we gear up to put an EPIC May in the books! "Maybe catch a movie as I am still a big kid when it comes to Star Wars"😁
Whatever you do on this Memorial Day, stay safe, have fun and take a moment to remember our fallen Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors and Marines. May God Bless you, your family, our country and the brave men and women that sacrifice everything to provide our blanket of freedom.
"This is the way!"

Earlier this week legendary PUD lineman and part time financial advisor "Downtown" Tony Brown offered up some (unsolicited) advise. He believed we should just "take the week off." His theory was that because of the long weekend and extremely nice weather nobody would be left in town, and we would be wasting our time.
When he explained his hypothesis, I felt it had a couple of flaws and decided to "take a chance" and just stay open. Now as we look to put this week in the books, I can reflect on the week and study the numbers. As we head into Sunday, I can say with a great deal of confidence that............Tony Brown is much better at being a lineman than a restaurant MANAGER🤣😂🤣
"This week has been CrAzY from jump!" We sold out of all 3 specials so far, including yesterday's steak special while fighting a vital piece of equipment failure and "trying" (albeit unsuccessfully) to close, so I could "attempt" to fix it. Thankfully we have some of the BEST customers ever and 3 heroes (Dave, Noah and Ben) jumped into action. After a little blood loss, a minor electrical shock and some redneckery, they had our ice machine doing the ONE thing we need it to do.......making ICE😎
Now with tragedy avoided, ice bins filled and another special prepped it is time for SUNDAY FUN-DAY here at the All In! That means, Cold 🍻, fast🏎️ and some HEAVY trash talk as we watch NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600 live from Charlotte Motor Speedway. The green flag is scheduled to drop at 3pm and "T-Bone's" first tear should come shortly after.
We are starting the day off with our Ealy Bird Special from 1-3pm....sadly we are OUT of the chicken sandwich until next week, but we still have the turkey sub, 1/4lb cheeseburger and chicken nuggets available.
At 3pm we are bringing out the big guns with a delicious Pulled Pork Sandwich! We start with a toasted bun and pile on a mountain of our dry rubbed, slow smoked, hand shredded Pulled Pork. Each sandwich is drizzled with our house made whiskey BBQ sauce and crowned with fried onions. Served with fries for just $12🤯
How can it be so cheap??? "Glad you asked." I was able to find a fantastic deal this week on a BUNCH of pork shoulder. As always, WE pass those deals on to YOU and strive to give YOU the best value possible! Basically 😎😉😜
