Come learn 2 bops and 1 dip that that leave a lot of margin of error when it comes to safety. Put some of you theory to practice while we double down on what important factors to use to keep these moves safe.

Hey everyone, this is Stefan Reaching out. I hope you all read this personal letter to the community. To read EBF's statement on the issue please do so here:

It has come to our attention that I have made some members of this community uncomfortable. I care about few things more than this community and I am truly sorry for any harm that I have done to it.
I oppose the genocide ongoing in Gaza as well as the others going on in the world. I am German and my family taught me to fight hard vs any genocide and not be quiet like my grandparents were during the holocaust. I learned from a Jewish and Palestinian community in Spain when I was eight that this genocide was coming (They were in Spain because neither party could go visit their family due to fears of their fascist governments).
So I have not been silent. I will continue to speak about about my opposition to genocide. I will however do so with more decorum. Damaging this community was never my intent and real harm has been caused. When people have seen my anti-genocidal rhetoric it has not pulled any punches. It is easy to be concerned as some of those speaking out are speaking out for Antisemitic reasons. Especially when activism goes beyond what is socially acceptable. In my case my reasons for speaking out so harshly are not rooted in bigotry and in frank they come from care. I care about protecting the Jewish community globally and do not want the Jewish identity lumped into said genocide. I feel complicit living in this country that is actively supporting said genocide.
I worry of the lasting damage that associating the Genocide and the Jewish identity can cause in the fight against antisemitism. Many equate anti-genocidal arguments as anti-Semitic. An idea that may seem protectionist but also leads to blaming the Jewish identity for the genocide. An idea I vehemently oppose.
Many of those in power in this country are mixing this important distinction of the genocide and the Jewish identity to prevent dissent. I consider it an important part of my fight against Antisemitism to maintain this distinction. This argument both shields genocide supporters from accountability and fuels Antisemitism for the decades to come.
That is why I am speaking up here to clarify. This way people will have context for the root of my words: the deep care I feel for this world and its people. And hopefully, understand the distinction that is important to prevent antisemitism in the years to come.
Understanding however does not fix damage. For those who have felt a damage in trust, I would love to talk to you all. As an autistic person I do not understand group dynamics or the emotional context of online discussion well.
I will strive for clear definitions of charged words in this language. This is helpful for me in English, a language with many contextual and double meanings that muddle discussions of charged issues. Let's build a shared understanding of both words and this complex and charged issue so that we can all rebuild trust together.
I would love to hear from you though and help repair the trust by communicating with you all. I will do so with great care and with more delay in groups or online spaces.

East Bay Fusion recognizes the profound impact the events in Gaza and Israel are having on our community and the world. Words feel inadequate in the face of so much suffering and loss of human life. Yet, the ongoing trauma and suffering in the world needs to be spoken about. This is not the time to be silent.

EBF is a diverse community and the Israeli-Gaza conflict has direct and indirect impacts on us. Our community includes dancers of Israeli and Palestinian heritage; Muslim and Jewish folks and allies worried about the rise of anti-Arab and anti-Semitic rhetoric and practices; and BIPOC dancers and allies identifying with racial, and cultural struggles and oppression.
We built EBF as a community for dancing and want it to continue with care and compassion while also condemning fascism, war, oppression, and genocide. We strive to be a welcoming space for all identities that value human life, and will continue to exclude people who are in support of genocide and fascism. Through dance we can express our mourning for the suffering and tragic loss of life, and work to co-create a safe, expressive space to build greater understanding, empathy and connection with each other.
