Stop by The Nyack Historical Society to learn more about Jack's Story and pick up a signed copy of his memoir,"Life Behind Bars"
Saturday July 20th from 1:00-4:00
This is where Jack's "Life Behind Bars" began. Many highlights are noted on the Museum's five "Office" Panels. Jack's book goes into a lot more detail, some reminiscent of Nyack circa 1965: His Uncle Jerry's Candy Store, His best friend and college roommate Chuck Loeb, Playing sports, his disciplinarian Choir director George Bryant. and the cast of characters that patronized his bar. Just a few reasons to come to our Book Signing!
And if you weren't around then, the memoir gives you a picture of Nyack you probably never envisioned. The Bar itself - with patrons at 6:30 am ..as well as "B***y" his fast-thinking Manager there to solve all kinds of potential mishaps. And Jack, who couldn't be more resourceful in transforming "The Office" into a Jazz Club unimaginable to his dad, Rocco.
Jack is eager to sell some books, and reconnect with neighbors, family and friends, to share his story and listen to theirs. So please participate in this exciting BOOK SIGNING!!! If you aren't able to participate on Saturday, Jack is glad to include a signed note to anyone ordering a book (or books) online.
The Nyack Jazz exhibit includes lots of great history from the forerunners of the Office and is gradually adding material about the many organizations and individuals who continue to bring world class jazz to Nyack!.
The Historical Society of the Nyacks is located at 50 Piermont Avenue, opposite Memorial Park. To enter the Air-conditioned Museum, use the door adjacent to the Nyack Library parking lot. The exhibit is open on Saturdays from 1-4. We encourage you to visit and also make a modest donation which helps us cover the costs for future exhibits. Thank You for your ongoing interest and support!
