We’re making Gimlet for Los Angeles.

The devastation we’re seeing in LA is heartbreaking, and while we’re just a tiny bar in Northampton, we’re gonna try to do what we can to send a few bucks to their community via emergency and shelter funds.

Why Gimlets? Well, despite being a significantly older cocktail (with ties to that damned Royal Navy), Raymond Chandler brought it into public fascination in his 1953 LA-set, hard-boiled novel, The Long Goodbye. Chandler’s spec called for Rose’s which we’ll be foregoing.

If you were at Green Room’s final weekend, i just wanted to say thanks. thanks for your support and thanks for everything you put into that bar. Here’s some disposable camera pics from that last weekend. if you don’t see yourself don’t fret, i have more pictures.

It’s hard to explain to people nowadays when i tell them how personal of a bar/project this was to me and i’m sure to a lot of you. Every piece of art was mine, every drink was made by us or hand picked by us, i designed every menu myself, curated every weird video playlist, the list of personal effigies in that space goes on and on. hiring, trainings, setting our own company standards and core values, continuing to learn myself, all had to be done on our own and i’m extremely grateful for everything i’ve learned within these walls.
The team and i put every last ounce of effort, sweat, and dedication we had left into the place. I tell people the story of the bar and watch their faces light up and then drop in shock and surprise as i say it is now closed after we left.
The truth is i don’t know what’s going to happen to that space, i made sure that whatever the owner does with it next it won’t feel the same.
I’m told by former regulars all the time now that the town doesn’t feel the same and that they miss the green room. i miss it too, but at least we have these sh*tty disposable camera photos.
