We wanted to storm the building.”

Remember these images from September 2021 at the US southern border with Mexico. Haitians crossed the border illegally and this was the US government's very public response. The United States has always been complicit in the dehumanization of Haiti. The United States occupied Haiti from 1915 until 1934 to control Haiti's political and financial interests. Those financial interests included payments to the French Republic for having the audacity to win the first successful revolt of enslaved Africans in history. France and the United States owe reparations to Haiti.

1791 The law on Jewish Emancipation is proclaimed in France, the first such legislation in modern Europe.
Human Rights were blooming except for Haiti which had to suffer for that audacity.

Let's add some additional context. The literal interpretation of laws made by slave owners. Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Franklin are the who's who of that list. Hamilton married into a slave holding family.
Let's go further back and have a literal interpretation of the Ten Commandments. Most Christians these days would literally fail that.
