Anita Bryant was the vile and vehemently anti-gay religious fanatic that made g**s stand-up and fight back in 1977.They began to mobilize and raised their hands to be counted in outrage against her attempt to repeal Florida's anti-discrimination laws that included homosexuals. They demanded to be treated fairly and respectfully as consenting adults and brought their struggle as an unjustly despised and discriminated minority to the nations attention in 1977-78.Before that, gay men and women were largely invisible and had no real voice.She was rotting from the inside out,and her religiously-fueled campaign: "Save Our Children" attempted to paint a picture of all g**s as an ominous danger to children and potential pedophiles.Her insidious actions,along with her husband,ultimately destroyed her and her career. She was exposed for what she truly was;an evil religious fanatic and mindless fool. Her actions were thought to be the catalyst that gave birth to the modern and well organized LGBT civil rights movement after the Stonewall rebellion of 1969...... Thank you, Anita !
