The Sunken Lounge reignites the magic of Eero Saarinen’s landmark 1962 TWA Flight Center, restored as the premier bar at the new landmark TWA Hotel at JFK Airport.

After a faithful restoration that maintains the integrity of the property’s historic architecture, while introducing contemporary design elements throughout, guests are now given the opportunity to clink glasses in a space truly unlike any other. Reimagined history and retro splendor prevail here, with floor-to-ceiling windows that provide views of the 1958 “Connie” airplane turned bar, while overhead a split flap departures board by Solari di Udine pays homage to the ‘Golden Age of Travel’ displaying custom messages. Looking to relax post-flight? Guests can recline on the lounge’s upholstered benches while admiring the authentic sparkling white penny tile and original Chili Pepper Red carpet.

Operated by hospitality industry leader, Ge**er Group, the beverage menu is stocked with 1960s cocktail favorites, including the Old Fashioned and the Aviation, plus The Sunken Lounge Martini that was popular during that iconic time. Also in the mix: Original signature cocktails — including the Come Fly With Me, inspired by Frank Sinatra’s 1958 album cover — garnished with a rainbow of swizzle sticks modeled after TWA’s original set, plus an expansive collection of small-batch spirits, carefully-curated wines and regionally brewed craft beers. Elevated bar fare including Marinated Olives, Artisanal Cheese Boardand Butcher’s Block, Soft Pretzel and more is served.
