This week’s BLEND come from NYC-based DJ & producer whose sound draws from UK Bass, US club music and NYC’s q***r underground. Moving though familiar rhythms into stranger territory - the set unfolds through dub textures, bass, broken beats and dnb-adjacent sounds before grounding it’s way home again.

Tōph (they/he)

Tōph is a NYC-based DJ and producer. Their style weaves together their roots in the UK and their home in NYC’s q***r underground. They’re heavily drawn to syncopated rhythms, dance music where the kicks interleave with your steps. Bass and breaks in all forms, particularly the UK bass continuum and US club music. You’ll most likely find them dancing their ass off by the subs, especially when the four-to-the-floor kick drops out.

Notes on the Mix ///

“I recorded this mix in my bedroom just over a month ago. I’ve been reflecting on how the rhythmic structure of a track invites you to move a certain way, and so your journey across a DJ set is a somatic one — you experience it through your own body’s movement. This set focuses on using that to start somewhere familiar and lead you towards an unfamiliar space, letting you feel yourself attune to the rhythms, explore how to move to them, and understand yourself in a slightly different way.

The set starts off weaving between UK bass and club tracks, spins off into a dubbier mid-section, rises through faster and trippier dnb-adjacent numbers, and finally finds itself again in a more cohered, physical realm. The closer is one of my fav tracks and I’ve been trying to find a place for it in a mix for years.”

Joining our open air daytime party tomorrow is an XOXA returning favorite with a hybrid vinyl & digital set to kick off a weekend in the sun ☀️

✮ Love Sensation is a vinyl and digital DJ, splitting her time between the London and Berlin House and Techno scenes. She is a true believer in the power of the dancefloor as a transformative space, rooted in freedom and joy. Love Sensation often pays homage to her first dance music love, Disco, as one of the original dance genres to spark joy and euphoria on the dancefloor. But her sets may spanning all the genres that she plays; from Deep House, to HardGroove, to pure Pop - but always with an eye on channelling fun, joy and of course, love.

Stefan Ways is a multidisciplinary artist who has recently become a resident of the San Francisco bay area. He enjoys creating dynamic sets and telling stories by creating a unique blend of tracks with energetic percussive elements, synthy chords, chugging bass lines, nostalgic rave sounds, psychedelic melodies, and vocal cuts to compliment the energy of the space.

“With a summer of parties ahead I decided to put together a mix of my peak-time favs I have been working with. The mix builds in tempo and features many q***r artists and rides the genres of house, new beat, italo, acid, and techno to name a few. I love vocal cuts and this mix has many I felt echoed our collective reality; from love and empowerment to politics and hedonism.”

Blending 90s rave with liberating q***r energy, Jake Reed is a DJ-producer making serious moves in the London scene. Known for rousing hands-in-the-air sets and a sound steeped in house music history, Jake is a regular at iconic q***r parties, venues and festivals alike. His upcoming releases - with scene-leading vocalists and throwback-touched production - and quickly growing clubnights, promise big things for 2026 and beyond.

About the mix: “I had a mixed NYC-London audience in my head when recording this, so went less high-energy and more underground, slower vocal house - still with heavy 90s influence and piano elements as ever. Lots of crossover of course with UK-NYC house, the samples used, and I love the warmer, oldschool side of ravey house.”

XOXA’s annual kick off to Pride brings a much anticipated special guest over from London - a DJ, vocalist, and producer with 20+ years behind the decks, rooted in the late-90s UK rave scene and now a key figure in East London’s q***r underground. Their penchant for delivering high NRG rave ready sets has earned them a place in festival lineups across the EU/UK so we’re honored to have them join us for an extended 3 hour main room set.

DJ Shannon - a beloved resident of The Lot Radio and XOXA - opens the room. When she’s not spinning a soulful and soothing house set, she delivers hard-hitting club, breakbeat, classic and ghetto house, techno, global bass, and hip-hop.

Motor City selector Father Dukes ready to lay down a bumping set for the acid freaks. Bringing together a deep respect for Detroit’s musical legacy - Father Dukes crafts immersive sets that balance precision with mystery.

The Bad Room features lengthy sets by two important q***r figures - Berlin based DJ by way of Madrid Materia Hache and local NYC multi-talented artist Michael Cignarale.

Materia Hache is the founder of FLINTA* collective Others to the Front and mix series House of Others - focusing on a love of house music and deeply entrenched underground resistance that builds community.

DJ, producer and vocalist Michael Cignarale channels the sweat, drama and euphoria of classic New York house and ballroom into explosive hybrid performances that blend live vocals with high-energy club sets. A rising icon of the global q***r underground, his ecstatic productions and unforgettable stage presence have earned support from artists like The Blessed Madonna and Peach, with DJ Mag naming him one of “Eight Emerging Artists You Need to Hear.”

Ringing in 300 BLEND mixes with a meticulously crafted Techno mix by founder .digital - Katie Rex played one of our first parties ever in 2017 and we have long admired what she’s contributed to the NYC underground landscape with Bound - it’s a true honor to have her mark this BLEND milestone. Enjoy 🖤

Katie Rex (she/her)

Katie Rex is a NYC-based DJ, Bound founder, and Basement resident known for her uncompromising blend of techno, hardgroove, goth, and industrial. A key figure in New York’s underground nightlife, she first made her mark in Philadelphia with Factory Girls, an all-femme party series that challenged the male-dominated club scene and helped spotlight a new wave of artists.

Since moving to NYC, Rex has become a defining force in rave culture through her work with Unter, Bossa Nova Civic Club, and especially Bound - the nationally recognized kink party and label she launched in 2016. Through Bound, she has built inclusive spaces centering femme and q***r communities while showcasing artists like Dax J, Silent Servant, Terence Fixmer, and VTSS.

“Soaring through grooves and driving harder sounds, this mix finds moments of whimsy within the harsh panopticon of daily life. Through the momentum of sound and rise in tempo, it explores the stamina required to mobilize when it feels safer to freeze. Emilia G (she/her) is a DJ and Love Will Save The Day FM .fm resident who draws from her roots in southeast London to cultivate her sound, house at its core with blends of acid, trance, techno - always a lot of groove, always an ounce of sleaze.

She runs .party, a clubnight all about connection that prioritises booking FLINTAQ artists and aims to create a safe, inclusive space in southeast London.

Emilia has been building momentum, from closing The Cause and her international debut in Amsterdam to throwing Pherotone’s 1st birthday at Venue MOT earlier this month. She brings infectious energy to the decks and dancefloor, crafting sets with care and intention that will leave you feeling something and wanting more.
