Lix liked to call this his golden hour. The bar had closed, his employees left, and the whole place held a quiet he found beautiful. Despite often disappearing he didn't really have a lot of time for himself. His lapse in memory had him on edge. Grabbing his guitar he strummed out a song his father had taught him long ago. If he closed his eyes he could almost hear his mother singing.
His mind wandered from his parents, and thoughts of a two-sided girl tugged at his thoughts. He was sure the woman from his sketch was known to him...but how, when, where? It bugged him. He could feel a memory at the edges of his mind, though when he turned to grasp it it was gone. His jaw clenched, and he changed up the tune. This one his mother had taught him. It reminded him of a chorus of other-worldly birds. The song tapped into the heart of man and beast.
As his wolf howled along something opened inside him. Flashes of a room full of hanging keys, unicorns, flowers. His long, calloused fingers kept plucking at the strings. He had the sensation of falling backward in time. People and places sped by in disjointed order. A raven haired woman held court amongst ghosts. He was clueless to the meaning.
Just as a brilliant white light seemed to deposit him back at the Moonlight he heard "Felix". His mother's voice. Wolfie stopped his baying. In unison man and beast saw what they needed to see. There was another library. There were answers. Instead of rushing off into the unknown he played on well past dawn. For what was coming would need focus.
