Today marks what would’ve been 100 years of Malcolm X — a revolutionary, a thinker, a leader, and a fearless advocate for Black liberation. If he hadn’t been assassinated, I believe with all my heart he’d still be here today — standing tall, healthy, and still pushing the agenda forward with that same uncompromising fire.

Curtis Mayfield — one of my all-time favorite pieces. Had to blow my own horn on this one.

Chicago’s own. West Side legend.
The genius behind Superfly, Claudine, and tracks for Aretha Franklin, Donny Hathaway, and more.
He sang it, wrote it, produced it — all soul, all truth.

Still underrated in my opinion, but never forgotten in my art.
Rest in power, Curtis.

Selma 60. Another powerful weekend at the Bloody Sunday Jubilee reenactment, crossing the historic Edmund Pettus Bridge. The energy was unreal, and the love was real! Moved a lot of units—Selma always shows up for me.

From Rev. Al Sharpton to Jesse Jackson, the clergy was in the building. The Masons, the Alphas, the AKAs, the Deltas—everybody was out there, standing in solidarity. Big salute to the city for always embracing the movement.
