Since Blue Fin closed last year, we are no longer dancing there. If you're interested, I am currently teaching country western and club line dances at the Seaside American Legion on most Wednesday nights. Follow my page for weekly information. Linda Nowicki

Hi Dancer Friends. Sorry for the late notice; but YES, there IS dancing tonight. Unfortunately, it will probably be the last night at Blue Fin. So come and party! Since the lesson last week was Cowboy Hustle, it seems only fair to teach Cowgirl Hustle tonight. It's one of the easiest dances you will ever learn; so please join me on the dance floor. There will be munchies available, so come early. Hope to see you there!!! Linda

Hi Dancer Friends. Tomorrow night I will be teaching another new and easy line dance called Cowboy Hustle, by request from one of our dancer friends. This dance can be done to many different songs, from slow to faster beats. Please join me for one of the last few nights at the Fin as we dance the night away. Come early for some munchies and/or your favorite drinks; and bring your dance requests. Hope to see you there! Linda

Hi Dancer Friends. Please join me on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at Blue Fin, 7-10pm, for open dancing with a line dance lesson around 7:30pm. This week I will be teaching/reviewing the older, fun line dance Reggae Cowboy. Come on out to support the Blue Fin and fellow dancers for what might be the last few weeks here. A big thank you to those who came last week to support me while I also covered for our absent DJ Carl!! Love you guys and gals!!! Hope to see you this week out on the dance floor! Linda

Hi Dancer Friends. Tomorrow I will be teaching/reviewing an older, easy line dance to Boot Scootin' Boogie. Come to the Fin as early as possible so that I can start the lesson on time, then have more time for open dancing afterwards. As an update to the future of Blue Fin, it seems that it may close as early as the end of September. We're trying to delay the closure by corresponding with the Cannery Row Company. If you'd like to help, you may also contact them. We're looking into sending some kind of petition as well. In the meantime, come support Blue Fin and country dancing in Monterey for as long as possible! Hope to see you there tomorrow night! Linda
PS. Please send me your requests for songs and dances so that I can download them onto my iPod. Thanks!

Hi Blue Fin Friends. By now you have heard about Blue Fin closing. The original Coast Weekly was premature. I have been in contact with the manager; and he assures me that he will give us as much advance notice of the closing as possible. So please plan on coming on Wednesday nights until you hear from me otherwise. Here is a comment on the Coast Weekly blog on Blue Fin....."It's a shame that the original CW post was premature! It will result in lost revenue for Blue Fin when potential customers think it's closed. This will affect the bar/sports viewing, food, billiards, music/dancing, meeting place for friends and office get-togethers. So let's get the news right and work together for our community. On a personal note, I'm very sad that BF is closing. I've always enjoyed coming to the various events, especially dancing, and meeting up with friends. And the employees have been the best! I'm hoping the Fin will stay open as long as possible!"

Hi Dancer Friends. Tomorrow night I will probably be reviewing Pontoon and God Blessed Texas from last week. Some of you may have heard that the Blue Fin will be closing next week. This has not been confirmed yet! There is talk that the on-line article posted by Coast Weekly is a fake. However, there is some truth about the troubles that BF has had with the City of Monterey and Cannery Row Company that owns the building, due to past security issues. Please be assured, though, that we will actively be searching for another location in the Monterey area, if necessary, to keep our beloved country music dancing going!!! One way or the other, I'm hoping that you'll join us tomorrow for a night of great friends and music, as well as wishing our friend De' a Happy Birthday. Really hope to see you at the Fin! Linda

Hi Dancer Friends. Well, I recently promised you that I would be reviewing older dances for awhile; and tomorrow will be no exception. I will be teaching/reviewing one of my favorite line dances, God Blessed Texas. It's a fun, easy, 2-wall dance. We should also have time to review Pontoon from last week. So, come on out to the Fin for some food, drinks, great friends, exercise, and FUN! Hope to see you there!!Linda

Hi Dancer Friends. Tomorrow night (Wed.) I will be repeating the contra line dance Cotton Eyed Joe/Rednex Stomp for those who missed it last week. Also, time permitting, I'd like to teach Pontoon, by request. Car Week should not present a problem parking at Cannery Row. (Monterey County residents can park free in the garage at Prescott and Foam St.). So come on out to the Fin for another fun night of dancing and being with great friends! See you there! Linda

I'm sorry to say that I won't be releasing the Facebook data I'd hoped to share with the research community. In fact I've destroyed my own copies of the information, under threa…

Hi Dancer Friends! Sorry for the late notice. Tonight I will be teaching/reviewing the oldie but goodie contra line dance Cotton Eyed Joe, aka Rednex Stomp. It's got quite a few steps, but it really is easy and fun. Hope to see you at the Fin! Linda

Hi Dancer Friends! Tomorrow night I will be reviewing the line dance from last week, It Ain't My Fault. (Easy steps, slightly fast song. Are you up for the challenge?) Starting next week l would like to start reviewing some of our old and true dances; so I really need your suggestions as to which ones. Some suggestions so far are Wild Wild West, San Diego Shotgun, and Cotton Eyed Joe. So meet me on the dance floor at the Fin for a combination of the newer dances with a revival of the ones we used to enjoy. Hope to see you there! Linda
