Good Morning FB...
The violence in the Milwaukee area has grown to outrageous proportions this year and it’s time that we as a community try to do something about it. The escalated crime rate hurts family, friends, and neighbors throughout the community. Not only does it affect our community personally, it in essence effects our economy. We want people to feel safe, patronize our businesses, and raise their families here.
Together as community leaders we can help Milwaukeeans start to feel safe again. I propose an after the school year event to be held at June 20th, 2015 at Washington Park. The time is pending based upon how many join the project. The Stop the Violence BBQ will be a family themed event. Food and shirts will be sold throughout the day and multiple raffles will help raise money for various local charities. Games including a bounce house, basketball, and football with also be available. I am also working on including a youth talent showcase (all participants will receive a prize) and key speakers to say a few words.
By networking through local businesses, aldermen and local charities/programs we can help bring peace our city. It cannot be done in one day but by connecting with the community, we can plant the seed. Your involvement in the event will help us reach out to more people, show the community you care, and also help spread word of your organization. Your support will make it memorable. So far we have Alderman Russell Stamper II of 15th District, The Salvation Army and multiple taverns where violence has taken place this year.
This is an initial proposal to see what all support we can acquire to make this event a reality. If we could receive donations for the giveaways (vouchers, toys, electronics, and tickets) supplies, food and/or even monetary funding this could be an even larger event. I feel the larger the event, the more lives we touch. Milwaukee desperately needs its citizens to stand together in peace. I ask that you help support this cause and/or suggest any local organizations that would benefit from this event. If you are able to support in any way, please let me know by June 13th, 2015. Again, any support is appreciated and welcomed.
Thank you for your time,
