Hello Friends,
Just a heads up for your traveling purposes:

The City of Milwaukee is rehabilitating the Water Street Bridge over the Milwaukee River. It’s a fairly easy detour for those of you who are coming to Tied House from the South on Water (those coming to Tied House from the North on Water will not be affected).

Beginning Tuesday, September 2 at 6 a.m., traffic over the Water Street Bridge will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction as non-painting, structural work begins.

The single lane closures will turn into a full closure of the Water Street Bridge to all traffic beginning Monday, September 8 at 6 a.m. Traffic will be detoured as shown in the project update.

For additional project information or to subscribe for updates, please visit the project website: engage.milwaukee.gov/water-street-bridge

Tied House MKE

Tied House is a new bar concept in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward. The new look for this historic venue pays homage to Milwaukee’s history and features a re-tooled bar by concrete artisan Shawn Wardall. The main room also displays an exhibition of vintage Erie Street photos from the Milwaukee County Historical Society. Muralist Evan Crain’s original piece celebrates Milwaukee’s spirit and architecture.

The name Tied House has a history as well and was chosen to acknowledge the building’s roots. Established in 1904 as a Pabst Brewery Tied House, the building still features a stone carved Pabst logo on the outside second story wall. Tied Houses were essentially taverns tied to one brewery. These exclusive relationships ended in prohibition, however, some former tied house buildings from Milwaukee’s great brewers still exist in the city.

Tied House is a rebirth for this historic setting and “ties” nicely to its commitment to staff, patrons, and the community. It’s a place to have fun, grab a drink, a good bite and enjoy an inviting ambiance with friends on the distinctive patio, newly-renovated bar, or private event space upstairs.
