Born on ships, not in bars. Sailors mixed spirits with citrus to survive long voyages. Jerry Thomas wrote the first recipe down in 1862 and it hasn’t needed much fixing since.

Bourbon, lemon, a little sugar. Bright and tart on top, warm oak underneath.

Order it alongside the Trust Fund Fries. The acid cuts the richness and the two make each other better.

Fitting, since it’s National Whiskey Sour Day.
