Congrats James. We’re watching you!
As you may know, we are re-opening Monkey Board this weekend with the addition of a brand new retractable roof! While this is very exciting in its own right, we are mostly excited because we are opening the doors with none other than Mr. James O'Donnell at the helm of the bar. James will be a big part of the evolution of Monkey Board in the coming months and we can’t wait to share this new, reinvigorated space with everyone. In the case you are somehow unfamiliar with James and his beautiful cocktails, here is a little bit about him – please help us give him a warm welcome!
James mixed his first drink at the tender age of six, and never looked back. Three fingers of Evan Williams, add ice, fill it up with Coke. Just how she liked them. At face value it's just a simple highball. To him the drink evokes memories of learning to read with Grandma. With each drink came a new story and bedtime was further postponed.
Storytelling and awakening familiar emotions are at the core of his hospitality ethos. He's had a lifelong love affair with culinary arts, experimentation, and a fascination with all things fermented and distilled. Combining that with brilliant mentorship and a team of New Orleans' finest, he's now ready to unveil a new beverage concept to his chosen hometown. Deeply rooted in tradition, steeped in wonderment, and laced with the romance of the city, we cannot wait to start creating memories with you. Cheers!
