TROPICAL STORM HARVEY: The City of Lufkin is prepared and ready for the storm. All city departments are on standby and ready to respond if weather-related issues arise. As of now we have no reports of flooding.
Sandbags were available at Grace Dunn Richardson Park earlier today with proof of residency. They wrapped up around 5 p.m. and were nearly out.
National Weather Service-Shreveport officials said Lufkin has received six inches of rain since last week. An additional three to eight inches is possible through the weekend, along with a slight tornado risk. There is also a marginal risk of tropical storm force winds, NWS officials said. The heaviest rain is expected Tuesday and Wednesday.
