Madam has noticed there seems to be some eagerness to rush directly into autumn.

Pumpkin. Apple. Spice. πŸ‚

But one small matter remains...

It is, in fact, still summer.🧐

And Madam prefers that things proceed in their proper sequential order.

Summer first.
A proper transition.
Then autumn may have its turn.

So, while The House prepares the Fall Ledger, we have opened something a little different.

The Reserve Ledger β€” a temporary collection of premium expressions of familiar favorites, along with a few new entries worthy of their own page.

Consider it the bridge between seasons: a little richer, a little more indulgent, and quite appropriate for these final weeks before autumn officially takes over.

And then there is one small entry Madam advises you not to overlook. πŸ«’

The Olive Snack.

A pair of hand-stuffed queen olive skewers β€” one filled with blue cheese and one with pimento cheese β€” both made in house.

A proper martini companion, and perhaps one of our favorite little additions to the Ledger.

The Reserve Ledger is now open at The House β€” for a limited time, while autumn patiently awaits its turn.

Madam asked guests of The House a rather simple question:

If ONE Seasonal Feature could earn a permanent place on the cocktail menu, which would you save?

The nominations were made.
The votes were cast.

And two entries made themselves rather difficult to ignore. πŸ‘€

Fortunately, neither is Madam. πŸ–‹οΈ

Both have officially earned a permanent place on the Ledger & Proof cocktail menu.

Madam happened to notice your admission that the Strawberry Rose Cosmo may be your favorite drink of all time β€” followed by your rather unfortunate conclusion that β€œit had no chance of winning.” πŸ˜‚

We have some good news.
It didn't have to. 😏

πŸ“œ A Matter Best Left to Oak

Several weeks ago, The Keeper began what Madam was told was a small experiment behind the bar.

Naturally, β€œsmall” soon involved an Old Forester oak barrel. 🧐

Into it went Old Forester Bourbon, Old Forester Rye, and the makings of our House Old Fashioned β€” where they have remained ever since, quietly getting acquainted with the oak.

There are some things The House can hurry.
This was not one of them.

So we waited.
And waited.

And allowed the whiskey and the barrel to do what they do best when nobody meddles:

settle into something rather remarkable.

The Keeper has now deemed the matter ready....and now we formally introduce to you:

πŸ₯ƒ The Keepers Bourye Barrel-Aged Old Fashioned

Available Wednesday while supplies last.

This is our first barrel-aged cocktail β€” rested in oak, softened around the edges, and poured from a batch that exists only for as long as the barrel allows.

And once this particular barrel is empty...
well, that entry is closed. πŸ–‹οΈ

P.S. The Keeper is already discussing what ought to occupy the barrel next. Which would be harmless enough... had additional barrels not recently appeared in The House... πŸ§πŸ›’οΈπŸ›’οΈ

Our whiskey flights now have a proper place to land β€” complete with individual tasting glasses and each pour identified along the way.

And it appears Elijah Craig and Michter’s were quite willing to volunteer for the first pour.

Four 1 oz pours, side by side.

Made for sipping, comparing, discussing... and perhaps discovering a new favorite.

Because sometimes the best way to understand whiskey is simply to put a few of them next to one another.
