It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to close down our Ohm Slaw Vapors Eastgate location. Our last day open to the public will be April 30th. On the advent of recent regulatory changes which threatens our industry's existence, past false media lies on va**ng, previous regulatory over-reach including sin taxes, and ever increasing prices on real estate and prices in general, we have made the tough decision to close down our second location in Eastgate.
Our Goshen location is where we started, and we have no plans to close this location down. We will continue to fight these over-reaching regulations and continue to service our customers and community from our Goshen location!!
Seven years ago we started Ohm Slaw Juice LLC as a part time business selling five e-liquid flavors. When we started, our goal was simple. We wanted to offer affordable v***r products to help people kick one of the most deadliest and nastiest habits that existed... smoking ci******es.
When we started, we never imagined it would grow to what it has come to today. We have travelled the country, sold over seven different brands of e-liquid with over 50 flavors all over the United States and even made our way outside of the country into Iceland, France, Italy, and many other European countries. We formed two physical brick and mortar retail locations which has serviced thousands of people over the last six years. We have met many friends on this journey in both the industry and with our customers. Some of which we even consider family.
Our Eastgate location was our second physical store and opened its doors in November of 2018. This facility was 2200 sqft in size! A large portion was our lab where we manufactured our products for both our retail and wholesale customers. In under a year, our second store was quickly becoming our best location in terms of sales and customer growth!
By the end of 2019, sales were damaged greatly by media publicity on va**ng which were all manipulated lies pushed by special interest groups, and over bearing regulations and taxes. Fast forward another six months, we were shut down for well over a month due to being deemed "non-essential" by the Ohio state government during covid lockdowns. We spent many months crawling ourselves out of the hole that was created not by us, but by outside forces.
We continued forward by offering new alternative product offerings and growing our customer base by word of mouth. Unfortunately, in September of 2021, the FDA denied 99% of the v***r products on the market using ni****ne "derived from to***co". As an industry, we decided to collectively move to "synthetic ni****ne" (which was not regulated by the FDA) to continue to offer our products to our customers and continue our goal of helping people quit this nasty habit.
Two weeks ago, President Biden signed the OMNIBUS federal budget spending bill. This bill has wonderful merits of assisting Ukraine and continued COVID relief, but unfortunately, it also had verbiage that was slipped into the budget at the last second, which moves all synthetic ni****ne products under the FDA's regulatory over-reach. All manufactured products with synthetic ni****ne are now considered a "to***co" product, even though there is no to***co or derivation of to***co present in these products. All while ci******es, pipe to***co, ci**rs, and many other to***co products will get to remain on the market and be sold with no questions asked.
This will force our industry to move to 0MG (no ni****ne) flavors, and any products that contain ni****ne in them when sold, will no longer be allowed to be marketed unless otherwise approved. Ni****ne is the main addictive substance that was present in ci******es, but it was also the primary tool in va**ng that can be used to switch a customer over and eventually use the ni****ne to step down to "zero" in a customer's ultimate goal of quitting!!
We will continue to find ways for our customers to get the products they need to stay off of ci******es or quit ci******es for the first time, and we will continue to fight these over bearing and over reaching regulations. We have no plans to stop nor do we have plans to close our Goshen location. The closure of our Eastgate location is an unfortunate bump in the road to allow us to continue to service as many customers as we can. We are truly sorry it has come to this, but know that we will not give up and we will do whatever is in our power to continue helping others. Thank you.
