Every great mystery begins the same way: a creaky old house, a flickering lamp, and someone who really should have stayed in the van. For this year’s Halloween shoot, Dessie Cat and her partner in crime skipped the van entirely and went straight to the scene of the crime, a velvet-draped 1970s parlor glowing indigo, with a boombox on the shelf and a VHS wall that has clearly seen things.

The assignment was simple. Take the two most iconic sleuths of Saturday-morning television and give them the Cat House treatment: glossy vinyl in candy orange and royal purple, lace-up pleated minis, thigh-highs to match, a lime-green scarf tied just so, and one very serious magnifying glass. No monsters were harmed. Several inhibitions were.
