Every now and then, even the people who make the drinks, wash the glassware, haul the kegs, stay late, open early, and keep the whole thing humming deserve a few quiet days of their own.

So we’re taking a little autumn break.

Speak of the Devil will be closed October 4th through October 8th so our crew can catch their breath, sleep in a little, spend time with their people, and come back rested and ready for another busy season in downtown Lorain.

We’ll be back behind the bar next Friday, October 9th, at 5pm.

See you then.

Okay, so here’s the situation.

We’re taking a little five-day breather after tonight. Closed Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, then we’re back at it Friday, October 9.

Which leaves us with one small problem:

There are cocktails in the kegs.

And we are certainly not letting perfectly good cocktails spend our vacation sitting around wondering where everybody went.

So tonight, Gold Rushes and Tommy’s Margaritas are $10. Yep. Hit the ten-dollar button.

Both were on tap for Wednesday night’s fashion show, both are stone-cold modern classics, and weirdly enough, they’re basically cocktail cousins: three ingredients, spirit + citrus + a rich natural sweetener. The Gold Rush goes bourbon, lemon & honey. Tommy’s goes tequila, lime & agave.

Simple. Brilliant. Dangerously delicious.

And if you need another reason to leave the house, Mezz Recipe is back tonight with his one-man, looping, bluesy groove machine.

So come help us drain some kegs, listen to some damn fine music, and send us off on break properly.

Okay, folks, we're going to disappear for a few days after today's and tomorrow's shifts!

Starting Sunday, October 4, through Thursday, October 8, Speak of the Devil will be closed for a little fall break. A chance for the crew to catch their breath, enjoy a few autumn days, and maybe have somebody ELSE make THEM a drink for a change.

We'll be back at it Friday, October 9, rested, recharged, and ready to get back to our regularly scheduled nonsense.

So drop in tonight or tomorrow and hang out with us before our break!

Okay, so we've made a new friend. And he's coming back.

This Saturday, Mezz Recipe returns to Speak of the Devil!

Now, for you music history nerds, Mezz Mezzrow was a jazz clarinetist, blues fanatic, legendary hipster and rather notorious supplier of recreational herbs to the jazz musicians of 1930s New York. A colorful character, to put it mildly.

Which brings us to our Mezz... Mezz Recipe

One man, a guitar, a looping pedal and a whole lot of bluesy, funky, wonderfully hypnotic grooves. He builds the music right in front of you, layer by layer, until suddenly one guy sounds like an entire band and you're wondering where the hell everybody else is hiding.

We had a damn good time with him the last time around, so naturally, we're doing it again this Saturday, 7:30–10:30 PM.

Mezz Recipe. Dope drinks. And a little Saturday night fun.
