Now that ive had a moment to take it all in, i wanted to say a little about DAME closing. It still feels very unreal and im still trying to process it all. But I did want to thank each and every one of you who came and supported us throughout the month and especially during our closing weekend! It was a whirlwind end to an amazing chapter. Ive been pretty quiet about the closing of dame. Mostly because it hurts too much to talk about and theres a lot that cant be explained at the moment. Its unfortunate that the actions of a few individuals caused this place to close, but im happy to know that my actions and willingness to jump in when I did, as an owner, allowed our space to flourish another year and a half. This was my life and my home and I feel lost without it. DAME gave me so much and it changed my life forever. I wouldn't have my friends, family, one of the loves of my life without it. It was so much bigger than a bar and it sucks that people wont be able to continue to experience just how necessary and special it truly was. We put our blood sweat and tears into making it the best gay bar in nebraska and we made damn sure everyone remembered it this past weekend. I am so proud of us and what we have accomplished in just over a year. It has taught me so much and made me grow as a person. I cant begin to tell you how thankful I am to have had the honor to be involved with DAME and I love you all so very much. This isn't the end it's just the beginning.
