LOTUS Absinthe

LOTUS Absinthe Traditional Green Absinthe, double distilled using all organic ingredients. Finally, these herbs are filtered and the solution diluted to an appropriate proof.

Absinthe is created by the addition of the holy trinity -- Wormwood, Fennel, and Anise -- to a base spirit (typically brandy distilled from wine). After maceration for a designated time period, the infusion is distilled and another round of herbs is added, most notably hyssop and melissa (lemon balm). To drink, serve with sugar and distilled water. Traditional preparation includes the use of a sug

ar spoon where a sugar cube is suspended above the liquid and cold water dropped into it. The water entering the solution decreases the solubility of essential oils within the drink causing them to precipitate in a dazzling white cloud, known as the Louche. It is best to observe the Louche in full light with a slow drip. Absinthe fountains hold a measure amount of ice cold water and allow a measured rate of speed to maximize the display of the Louche and slow the addition of water to a constant speed. Fee Verte traditional absinthe does not contain any hallucinogens. Wormwood, the primary herb used in Absinthe, contains the active constituent thujone which is a deliriant and convulsant. The rumors of hallucinogenic activity are simply misunderstood drunkenness. Too much thujone will kill you and a purposefully wormwood heavy drink will be bitter beyond the point of drinkability.

Hey, Kids! We have been "literally," been doing rocket and/or computer science. We, as super-nerds, need funding, so we are still trying to expedite this endeavor.

Due to the similarity of brand names and the specialized herbs we will be using for our own particular brand, we have decided to change the name of our company from Fee Verte Absinthe, to the more dinstinctive Lotus Absinthe. In the coming weeks, we will be looking for people to participate in a pre-production sampling. Please let us know if you are interested in a 50ml sample and we will do our best to accommodate.

Our traditional absinthe in it's new potion jar, coming in at a striking 84.5% alcohol. The intense green color has been accented by a traditional herb in the finish that also accentuates the qualities of the surrounding essentials.

Introducing... our first attempt at creating a "Rouge Absinthe" ... This elegantly appearing unorthodox absinthe competes with the bitter notes of wormwood using the striking and brief sweetness introduced by a secret organic combination of florals.

I am sampling Pacifique, Absinthe Verte Superiere. It has a refreshing, light, and crisp taste. Excellent color pre-Louche, beautiful white opaque effect, followed by the release of definitive anise. It is more of a sip me all afternoon until you have a permanent smile than a sip me until you fall asleep style of absinthe, but the quality is resounding. More notes to follow:

Batch #8, we have officially established a decent Louche effect. The glass on the left is #8 absinthe BEFORE addition of water, and the glass on the right is #8 with a 3:1 ratio of distilled, purified water to complete the Louche effect. Heat your heart out, absintheurs!!!
