IF THE LAW CHANGES AND PROSTITUTION BECAME LEGAL, SHOULD EVERYONE PREVIOUSLY CONVICTED BE RELEASED?
First and foremost, let us here at ProStar say:
CHILDREN MUST BE PROTECTED. NO ONE SHOULD EVER BE FORCED TO DO ANYTHING AGAINST THEIR WILL.
Whenever a law is struck down or removed from the books in our country, there remain thousands of offenders still locked up or under supervision with harsh sentences which they would NOT have received if the authorities had corrected the law long ago.
In Vancouver, Canada, a man was convicted on Monday of human trafficking and other charges which ARE illegal acts despite the fact that prostitution itself is completely legal in Canada. The problem in the past has been that even though prostitution has been legal in the country for what seems like forever, many activities SURROUNDING prostitution have remained illegal. For instance, to make things simpler to understand, a s*x worker can pretty much advertise and perform s*x-related services and gain financial profit from the work, however, it is ILLEGAL for anyone to advertise, promote, arrange, or benefit from the s*x services of another person. In other words, Canada's laws make it allowable for a pr******te to work their own business, but they cannot receive any assistance in obtaining, servicing, or maintaining clients from a third-party. For some reason, the Canadian authorities believe this will somehow make a safer working environment for pr******tes. Most feel this only continues to make it extra hard for a professional to make a great living.
Now, after many of the charges Reza Moazami was convicted of have been changed in the law books, his sentencing judge has refused to grant new hearings or a new trial under the newer laws. Mr. Moazami is left only to hope an appeal may change his situation.
