๐ธ One final "Traditional" post! From Griffin!
Work starts today on the new place that will take up the space that was Griffin for almost 9yrs! Be excited! Will and his team at .food will do great things and thoroughly have my support.
๐นAs one last hurrah and acknowledgment of the greatest spirit in the World - GIN, here's a post showcasing the brand i've been following since it's early days when i lived in Scotland. Back then, Hendrick's gin was a mostly small, yet-to-be well known brand, but what a great product it was & with a cool bottle and steampunk/old fashioned artwork it was sure to be a hit.
Now, years later, we've had the pleasure of being offered not one but EIGHT distinct (but also distinctly Hendrick's) craft gins, all with a cool origin story. Check previous posts for these stories.
Today, I'm going to talk to you about -
โ๏ธHendrick's "GRAND CABARET"โ๏ธ
- a limited release from the 'Cabinet of curiosities.'
๐ Firstly, I'm late talking about this, so just BUY IT. There's limited stock. It really is worth it!
๐ The Gin:
Intended to express the notes of libations found in establishments within the high end of Parisian society. Grand Cabaret combines 'classic' floral Hendricks notes with deep characters of stone fruit and herbal flavours.
๐ Tasting:
The gin is notably floral with strong stone fruit characters, particularly peach & some sweet honeylike notes. Cherry flavours combine with herbal characters for a thorough finish. Juniper is present throughout in the typical lighter piney notes you find with Hendricks - obvious but not overpowering.
This gin is at its very best enjoyed as how the bottle suggests -
- Grand Cabaret 1.5oz
- Cranberry juice 0.5oz
- Lime juice 0.75oz
- Simple syrup 0.5oz
- Top with prosecco
Shake & strain - serve on ice in a Collins glass.
I also found that the gin works well when combined with Fentimens Rose Lemonade & Fever-Tree Mediterranean tonic. A good gin will always be the workhorse of a drink! There is no need for complexity.
Thanks! Be well.
