Lets break this one D O W N

Typically, most stylists would categorize this as a COLOR CORRECTION, but I approached it differently. Let’s explore why it could be:

1. There’s a distinct contrast between the blonde in the front section and the darkness in the back. Just take a look at how solid the blonde is in the front, especially compared to the back half.

2. We have about an inch and a half of regrowth, which doesn’t blend seamlessly with the rest of the hair.

3. Additionally, there’s lingering redness from an OLD box color experiment nearly TWO years ago.

So, why didn’t I opt for a full color correction? Because we aimed for a more lived-in look with minimal upkeep. My client didn’t want to go fully blonde, which would have meant painstakingly pulling out each piece of warmth in the back (meaning color correction).

Instead of going all-out blonde and battling the red undertones, here’s what we did:

⚡️ We introduced lowlights throughout the front section, breaking up the solid blonde.

🐝 We focused on creating a bright “money piece” around the face for a pop of brightness.

⚡️ Through the back, we strategically added thicker and thinner highlights to blend the existing tones and bring up the brightness to match the front more.

🐝 We opted for a soft partial highlight throughout the top half of the head to enhance the overall blend and ensure a smoother grow-out process.

✨ Lastly, We decided to add a root tap so that as the top grows out the highlights are seamless!

By taking this approach, we achieved a look that addressed the overwhelming amount of warmth, mismatched highlight placement and is going to be easy to maintain.

What does she have to maintain?
✨Honestly, just the money piece, a toner (so she doesn’t get too warm) and a trim to keep her ends healthy! It sounds like a lot, but it’s the MOST time friendly, cost effective way to upkeep your hair if you want color with a friendly grow-out! I expect her to be back in about 8-9 weeks for this retouch appointment that will last about 1.5 hours vs the original 3 hour appointment!

🚫You’re putting your hair up in the MESSIEST bun while it’s wet.
you’re pulling your hair back tight (or twisting and twisting to get it in a bun).

🚫You’re not brushing it.

🚫You’re not using heat protectant.

🚫You’re not using oil for the ends.

🚫You’re roughing the ever loving cuticle up to where it’s extra frizzy and it’s making you need haircuts more often..

🚫You’re using conditioner on the scalp.

‼️Please, stop all of these things!
For the best hair..
⚡️squeeze the water out of it GENTLY with a t shirt or a microfiber towel.
⚡️Use ghost oil on the ends on the days you’re skipping your wash!
⚡️Braid your hair and tie it off with a silk scrunchie for sleeping!
⚡️use shampoo for the SCALP and conditioner from the NECK DOWN!
⚡️at most, be washing every two days, and if you are, use a MILD shampoo!
⚡️to distribute your own oils, use a boar bristle brush to detangle!
⚡️Use heat protectant, even for the blow dryer!
⚡️get a trim EVERY 3 months, or as I say “once a season and it’ll fall around the holidays. Once at spring break/Easter, once at the beginning of summer, once at the end of summer and then one more around Christmas!”

Purple shampoo, or purple mask?

Use purple shampoo effectively to maintain the vibrancy of your blonde or silver hair by counteracting the development of undesirable yellow undertones. These products effectively neutralize golden tones, ensuring your hair color remains impeccably fresh and cool in appearance!

Also, can we change the verbiage just a smidge? Let’s stop saying that BLONDE hair is brassy! Everyone has their own preference when it comes to tonality of their blonde and some like their’s to be more golden, it doesn’t mean that it’s brassy…
I think that brassy hair appears yellowish- orange, often due to the normal, underlying warm tones coming through in blondes. (Typically non-toned hair)
Golden hair, on the other hand, typically has been chosen to be bright, warm, sunny, and to have a natural looking blonde hue without the unwanted orange tint.

So what’s your preference…

Heading off for a well-deserved vacation? Ensure your gorgeous locks stay safe throughout the trip with these easy hair care tips:

1. Hydration is Key 💧: Keep your hair hydrated by rinsing it with shower water + using a leave-in conditioner before swimming. This will protect it from the sun and chlorine damage. (And NEVER forget to thoroughly wash it and reapply leave in conditioner after!)
2. Sun Protection ☀️: Shield your tresses from harmful UV rays by wearing a stylish hat. It'll also double as a fashion statement + keeping the sun out of your eyes🧢
3. Minimize Heat Styling 🔥: Embrace the beachy texture and opt for heatless styles to avoid additional damage. Let your hair air dry and use a sea salt spray for that effortless, beachy look. (my favorite is ‘s sugar spray or sea salt spray)
4. Travel-Friendly Products ✈️: Pack travel-sized dry shampoo, leave in conditioner and texturizing spray to freshen up and add volume between washes.
5. Stay Gentle 🧖‍♀️: Be gentle with your hair, especially after long days of sun and sand. Use a wide-tooth comb to detangle and avoid unnecessary breakage. (Hair lacks moisture after being in the salt water, chlorinated water and sun!)
6. Nighttime Care 😴: Before bed, loosely braid your hair to prevent tangles and reduce friction against your pillow.
7. Post-Vacay Treat 🩵💇‍♀️: Treat your hair to a deep conditioning mask once you're back home. It'll help restore any lost moisture and keep your color vibrant. PSSSTT, this is also the perfect time to come in and get a glaze + mask + trim
