We’re excited to once again be partnering with The Cheese Shop of Des Moines and Meadowlark Provisions on Wednesday, September 9 at 7 p.m. to bring you an informative and fun-filled cheese and wine pairing event at The Cork 50131.

At this event, we’ll be joined by the one and only C.J. Bienert, owner and founder of The Cheese Shop of Des Moines, and Kevin Roberts, owner and founder of Decorah-based Meadowlark Provisions.

For the wine, Kevin will be presenting 6 different and delicious NON-RIESLING wines from his fantastic German portfolio, including a lovely Silvaner (a fairly rare and unique white wine grape) and a refreshing chilled Trollinger (a light red wine grape generally grown in and near the Alpine foothills of Germany and Italy). C.J. will share the story of several cheeses he’s selected from his store to complement and enhance our experience of these wines.

The event fee is $55 per person ($50 for wine club members). The wines presented will also be available for pre-sale purchase and pick up on Kevin’s next delivery date.

As has become our annual tradition, our August wine event (at 7 pm on August 19) will be all about celebrating our awesome Assistant Manager Cycrena and her birthday.

As some of you may know, Cycrena has been working her way through sommelier courses and spent the last couple months tasting wines for this event. She’s selected 6 light and refreshing “perfect-for-warm-weather” wines – a sparkler, 3 whites and 2 reds – but all of them will be a surprise (including to everyone else who works at the bar). Cycrena will be joined in presenting the wines by Jeff Yanecek of Okoboji Wines and Keith Bell of Southern Glazer's.

The price of this event is $40 per person ($35 for wine club members), and guests will receive a 3 oz pour of each of Cycrena’s 6 hand-selected wines as well as a cheese plate and a birthday dessert.
