American Legion Huntington Post 16

American Legion Post 31, Shinnston WV hosted the state finals of the American Legion Oratorical Scholarship contest on March 22nd. Juliann Harlan, sophomore at Elkins H.S., repeated as state champion and will represent WV at the national contest to be conducted at Hillsdale College, Michigan, during May 16-17. All three contestants were excellent, and the Oratorical Chair, Frank Nicholson, said it was the tightest competition he's seen since he became involved in 1992. Huntington Post 16 has been in continuous operation since October of 1919. A fact of which we are humbled but very proud. We have served the veterans community and the City of Huntington for over 100 years. Come see us at 1421 Sixth Avenue.
