After over two years of love, dedication, sweat equity, laughs, tears, adventures and song; Andy and I have decided to close The Barking Chicken – Craft Bar and Gallery.
My dream started off small. I wanted a brick and mortar place to continue to make and show my art. I also wanted a place to come and immerse myself in the craft. We began with the Craft Bar and Gallery serving a small plate menu, and then it grew!
I never wanted a restaurant, yet that is what the Chicken inevitably became. And it’s a great one!
A 4.9 out of 5 on Google and a spot on an episode of Maine Life, proved that along with an amazing staff, I could create something that people would love: atmosphere, music, art, great food and great cocktails.
Unfortunately, those things do not pay the bills. Though appreciation, love, passion and purpose should be enough, the reality is that it is not.
And so, through sleepless nights and months of holding out hope, Oct 31st marks the end of an amazing adventure. I can say without hesitation or regret, that I have forged some of the best relationships I have ever had, met some amazing people along the way…and have never laughed so hard…thank you all!
Please come in to visit, eat, drink, and share memories and laughter with us! We look forward to sharing this time with you!
One last thing… if you love this place, if it speaks to you, if you have the passion, energy, drive, and finances to keep it going, please reach out. I would love to talk about options for The Chicken to continue being a part of this beautiful town!
With love, art and best wishes
Teresa
