A FINAL NOTE FROM SPITFIRE & AFTER GLOW LOUNGE
This is one of those posts we truly hoped we would never have to write.
After pouring so much of ourselves into Spitfire & Afterglow, our time here is coming to an end. As of October 11, Spitfire & Afterglow Lounge has permanently closed its doors.
When we stepped into this space, we had a vision for something different, a place where you could come for dinner and stay for the evening. Where the patios were full, the music was playing, cocktails were being passed across the bar, and familiar faces became part of our week.
And Greensburg showed up for it.
You celebrated birthdays here. You brought your friends and families. You packed the patios for live music, joined us for brunch, stayed late in Afterglow, came out for football, and came back week after week. You gave this place a life and personality that went far beyond anything we could have created ourselves.
We want to be clear about one thing: this was not the ending we planned or wanted for Spitfire & Afterglow.
We came into this project excited about its future. We invested ourselves fully in building it and had every intention of continuing to grow what we created here.
Throughout this process, we have remained committed to moving forward honestly, transparently, and in good faith, while doing everything we reasonably could to find a workable path forward.
Unfortunately, we have reached the point where we can no longer responsibly continue under the current circumstances. There is much more to the story than can or should be shared in a public announcement, and for now, we choose to close this chapter with gratitude and grace.
We know there may be questions. Out of respect for everyone involved, and because a goodbye to something we loved isn't the place to discuss private business matters, we aren't going to get into the circumstances surrounding the end of our time here.
What we will say is that we are incredibly proud of what we built, grateful for the community that supported it, and genuinely disappointed to see this chapter end.
Most importantly, thank you to our staff.
Restaurants don't exist because of a name on a building. They exist because of the people who show up every day to cook the food, make the drinks, carry the plates, clean up after everyone leaves, entertain a packed room, and somehow do it all again the next day.
We were fortunate to have some truly wonderful people become part of Spitfire & Afterglow, and we couldn't have done any of this without them. We will forever be grateful for the work, creativity, patience, laughs, long nights, and heart they gave this place.
And to everyone who supported us, thank you, Greensburg. Truly.
Thank you for every dinner reservation, every cocktail, every brunch, every song sung along to on the patio, every celebration, every recommendation to a friend, and every night you chose to spend with us. We will never take that support for granted.
For anyone currently holding a Spitfire & Afterglow gift card, we will honor it at Rambling Rose Lounge in Mount Pleasant, or our future locations, so the value you purchased will not be lost.
This isn't how we imagined saying goodbye. But we're leaving with a lot of memories, a lot of lessons, and an enormous amount of gratitude for everyone who gave Spitfire & Afterglow a seat at their table.
