As some of you may or may not know...unfortunately Onezia closed the doors for good a few weeks back. It's a very bittersweet moment to say the least for me. What a helluva ride!!! On my very first business venture I've learned alot about business, people & music. I truly want to thank ALL of the people that patronized Onezia. You appreciated what we offered, tho it was new & unique to the area & carried us for the last 6 years. Again...I CANNOT thank you enough! Without a doubt Onezia certainly changed the music scene in the Ascension Parish area over these last few years, WE MADE A DENT! There were lots more big acts, special big shows in the works but the present state of things convinced me not to pursue them. What an unbelievable treasure chest of VERY talented musicians living in this GREAT parish of Ascension & our neighboring parish of East Baton Rouge!! Onezia humbly hosted several movie stars, professional/college sports figures & national acts/grammy winners. Some of these guys have played with Michael Jackson, Mick Fleetwood, Eric Clapton, Allman Bros., Howlin' Wolf, Albert King, Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon & more. I would be derelict if i didn't mention some of those folks(band members included) & I'm sure I'll leave some out mistakenly(apologies)...
Chris LeBlanc Band, Kirk Holder, Gregg Wright(King of the Rockin' Blues, Michael Jackson Guitarist), Chris Thomas King(grammy winner, movie star), Sonny Landreth(grammy winner, played w/Eric Clapton & MANY more), Randy Jackson of Zebra, Mr. Henry Gray(grammy winner, piano player for blues legend Howlin' Wolf & others), New Orleans legend Walter "Wolfman" Washington, Larry Garner, Several members of LeRoux including Rod Roddy, Jim Odom & Leon Medica, Elvin Killerbee Band, Jared Daigle, Luther Kent, Dash Rip Rock, Mr. Ernest Scott and THE Funk Children, Eddie Smith Band, Cam Pyle's SoulHaven, Bubba Plauche', Ms. Jodi James, Kenny Acosta, Josh Garrett Band, Mike Dampier Band, Contraflow, Debbie Landry/Blayne Coupel, Damon King, Bo Jamison, Quiana Lynell & the Lush Life, Blake Harlow, Styk, Pops, Rusty Yates Band, Ryan Jenkins, Phat Hat & THE Joel Cooper Rock Show. Onezia hosted a few sports figures that were inclined to hang out with us...Glenn Dorsey(LSU, KC Chiefs, SF 49er's), Kelvin Shepard(LSU) & Devery Henderson(N.O. Saints). Yea...I'm tooting my horn, what a list! How can I not with the stable of musicians listed above? Now, hopefully I'll have some weekends free to pay some visit's to these guys and check them out on their circuits. I've made many new friends, some close during this experience. Thanks everybody!
