And now for something completely different from FMVeg - Coming in June 2025 (but really, it's 2014) at CoreCon XVII, Echoes of the Future! (The theme is Time Travel, get it?)
Trek Café and Lounge, an award winning fansuite! FMVeg was encouraged to have a suite at CoreCon, the local Sci-fi/fantasy convention, to give out food to the attendees, show videos, etc. As a result, we came up with the ide
a of having a Star Trek themed suite, and we're calling it "Trek Cafe and Lounge", a room filled with food from the future; replicated food! We'll be serving "replicated" meats, which have been created to replicate the taste and texture of actual meat and dairy - only they're plant-based, as well as other goodies, ALL FREE! (Most of the food in the Star Trek universe is replicated, and most everyone is vegetarian or vegan because of that, in case you didn't know - except Klingons, of course! Though Michael Dorn who played Worf is vegan!)
We're also showing Star Trek videos and will have Star Trek trivia, so we're inviting all of you Sci-fi geeks to stop by and visit us! Benefits include: hanging out with us, watching lots of Star Trek shows/movies, Star Trek trivia, and some delicious free food, of course! There is a cost to attend the convention - you can check out all of the details here: http://www.fargocorecon.org/
We're receiving funding from VegFund.org to help cover most of the costs of the room and food, but we're seeking extra funding for props, costumes and such through Indiegogo: http://igg.me/at/trekcafe/x/7505769 If you want to be a part of this project in this way it would be greatly appreciated! Share this link far and wide! If you prefer, you can donate directly to my PayPal account, just indicate that it's for Trek Cafe and Lounge: [email protected]
Any donations of props, costumes and videos is also welcome! (Just leave us a message). HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!! From "Star Trek: The Next Generation" Lonely Among Us (1987):
Commander William T. Riker: "We no longer enslave animals for food purposes." Badar N'D'D: "But we have seen Humans eat meat." Commander William T. Riker: "You've seen something as fresh and tasty as meat, but inorganically materialized, out of patterns used by our transporters." Badar N'D'D: "This is sickening. It's barbaric!"
