Small business life can be hard. Sometimes you don’t see behind the scenes, Jovalou bursting at the seams. What a blessing. Thank you Lord. But there are no pictures of me with my daughter on homecoming night.

Things got too wild, too fast. She looked beautiful. My family came to take pictures and have a meal. My sister getting up to help even after already working the day shift.

I couldn’t even get her fed before she came to the kitchen to tell me she had to leave because the dance had already started. I told her she looked beautiful and to be safe while I wept and went back to the line to feed all the wonderful people who came to share this night with us.

She said, “Don’t cry mom, you’re making money.” I will forever be grateful to my children for understanding what I have worked so hard to build for them, to provide for them.

But I would be remiss if I didn’t remind everyone out there, that sometimes, small businesses make big sacrifices.

I truly love my business, my staff, my family and all my customers. I am so thankful for all the Lord’s blessings. I am thankful for our patron’s patience and understanding being understaffed but out there doing everything we can.

There is a side of service that hopefully you never see in my restaurant. But there is a side of humanity that I hope you always do. ❤️
