Our Story

Farifolk is shorthand for Fairfield Folk Arts & Dance Co-Op (FFADC), a non-profit organization that promotes the fun of community dance in Fairfield, Iowa.

Beginners are very welcome to our weekly dances: English Country Dance is every Friday except 1st Friday of the month at 8 pm at Morning Star Studio, 51 North Court St. In the summer we sometimes meet at the Hamiltons -- email to confirm at [email protected].

Monthly Contra Dances are held on the 2nd Saturday at Morning Star Studio at 8 pm, with a free lesson/orientation for new dancers (and brush up if you haven’t been in a while!) at 7:30 pm.

We also hold an annual English Country Dance weekend with Bare Necessities, the world's premier English Country Dance band on the first weekend in November -- this is intended for experienced dancers (who also like to get an extra hour of sleep with the time change!)
