The Underground Speakeasy Lounge A speakeasy is a secret bar that operated illegally during the Prohibition era (1920-1933).

The term "speakeasy" came from the need for patrons to "speak easy" or quietly to avoid drawing attention to these hidden, "underground" establishments.
